no go. i mean, they're ALRIGHT, but nothing more than that. if you ask anyone thats actually into stereo stuff, they'll tell you Xplod, or sony for that matter is not the way to go for subs. but if you want just a LITTLE extra bump, and i mean LITTLE, it probably wouldnt be that bad.

Would it be better than the 12" 350watt rms visonik I am replacing.

yes. but if your throwin it a lot of power, get ready to replace it. we blew my friends pretty quick, but then again, we had two 10" subs runnin through two 2K watt amps. lol

www.sonicelectronix.com you can get a 12" mtx 4500 there for around 40 dollars, i would get that long before i even considered sony

Don't go with sony for your car. I'd go with the MTX's in abervintageman's post. MTX is a great sub for that price!!

I have never been a fan of Sony Speakers. As far as I am concerned the absolute King of the sub-woofer is Rockford Fosgate. They more or less invented the sub-woofer. I also like JBL, Polk Audio, and Boston Acoustics. I note Boston Acoustics has passive sub-woofers, which are designed to go with one of their driven sub-woofers of the same diameter. using a passive driver is a great way of getting the control of an acoustic suspension system and the efficiency of a ported enclosure.

i agree with transmaster rockfords bet a sony hands down
yes the sony is cheaper but you get what you pay for
