Default What all do I need to install an aftermarket radio such as Apple carplay

Hi, I'm new to these forums but basically I want to add carplay to my truck. I have a 2013 F-150 STX with all stock accessories. I want to get a double-din radio with Apple carplay and keep my steering wheel controls and also be able to use the oem Sirius XM antenna.

I bought the JVC KW-V820BT with carplay along with the Maestro dash kit, idatalink module, attenna adapter and sirius tuner.
It was easy to install and I have Sync and carplay. I was able to use the sirius attena but had to have the tuner.
$875 for all from Crutchfield

Alright that sounds good but couldn't you have used a Sirius xm antenna adapter to fit into the maestro module? Also I'm going with a cheaper dash kit to keep my budget below $650

I was thinking of buying this along with everything because I'd believe it would work just like it does with the stock right? What all do I need to install an aftermarket radio such as Apple carplay-photo600.jpg

If you`re asking for advice from members, might I suggest you include all info in your OP such as your below 650.00 budget.

Based on that new info and what you`re looking for, the only way you`re going to fall under the 650.00 range is to find great deals on a head unit that has Apple CarPlay built into it plus the optional accessories you`re going to need. Perhaps you can find everything you need used on eBay.

Dash kit, head unit with Apple CarPlay, retain steering wheel control, Sirius XM, plus labor if you don`t do it yourself?

I`m sorry but below 650.00 is not realistic and even if you do it yourself, below 650.00 is not possible.

Good luck to you.

Sorry didn't know there was rules. I'm not really asking advice, I'm asking what is necessary to have a fluent install.

Have a great day

Does your truck have the 4.3" screen? If not it's pretty simple to upgrade. If it has the 4.3 then you have to buy some pretty expensive equipment.

I suggest using crutchfield.com and look for the link that says "find what fits my car". Its a great guide to finding out what installation gear to use.

No I do not have the 4.3" screen. I do use crutchfield.com though. When I do that it comes up with the maestro module and harness and adapter but when I read on the checklist of features retained it says I loose Sirius xm capabilities. So I'm wondering if all I have to do is buy an additional adapter like the on above to make it work? What's your thoughts?

You can use the factory SAT antenna on an aftermarket SAT tuner with this. It works perfect.

I have been pricing systems all week and you can get below $650, but not keeping sirius. There is a deal out there on a kenwood system with add on sat tuner, but you will be closer to $700.

I'm not looking for Sirius, but I've been able to price systems with Carplay thru Crutchfield, with the Maestro and all necessary cables for around 648.
