You have it backwards. 6x9 is the stock front size (though you can use an adapter to go to 6.5 if desired). The rears are 6.5.

Front components are a good idea unless you really know what you are doing and have a whole crossover plan mapped out with your amps/DSP/etc.

Yeah I definitely don't. I'm not a huge sound/audio guy but I need something better than what I have now. My last ford had the Shaker system in it and although i'm sure not a great system overall, it is far and away better than whats in the truck right now.

And yeah I got my sizes mixed up, working off about 5 hours of sleep!

Just FYI if 4 years from now, someone is searching for something on this topic:

The Forscan "727-01-02 00xx - Disables Factory EQ Processing" seems to have fixed my mid-heavy stock front speakers problem.
Now, I haven't put a spectrum analyzer on it or anything, and it may just be placebo, but it sure sounds like it fixed it & I have good sound to all 4 doors now. I am going to sleep on it a couple of days and see.

Awesome! Jealous you Sony guys can do that, not an option for the new B&O (that anyone has found, at least).

19 STX with 8" screen 6 speakers. Only looking to replace what I have to improve the sound quality a bit. My question is on the stock system when hooking up to the crossover the input would be from the original door speaker wiring. Can the output from the crossover can be tied into the stock tweeter from the door? Or do i have to run a new physical wire up the pillar for the replacement tweeter?

Thanks guys!

You'd have to run a new line up to the tweeter from the crossover. I think it would be easier to put the crossover behind the head unit since there is a ton of space back there. Getting to all the wires is significantly easier this way compared to running lines through the molex plugs.

Any chance you have a part number for a harness that would allow me to tie in without cutting wires? Your suggestion makes perfect sense.

FOR-11CK harness can be found on Amazon for around $50. I build them out if you need to add in amplifiers and DSPs.

Any recommendations if i want to install a small amp behind like the alpine ktp-445u? while i am back behind the radio i might as well do it especially if I can use the power and signal wires from this harness. If you want to give me some speaker recommendations and amp with your harness I would not mind getting one from you for the help.

I very highly recommend the Kicker Key unit for this task. The 180.4 model is much cheaper than the newest model 200.4. The only difference between the two is 5 watts per channel which isn't much at all. The $60 price difference isn't worth it to me but some people like having more than less. PM me for prices since I'm not allowed to publicly post my prices. As for the harness, many people on here can tell you my harness is about as plug and play as possible and looks like a factory wiring job. If you only need me to wire the Kicker Key amp for you then the cost is only $100. This pays for the harness, me confirming the correct wiring pinout on the harness which has been an issue on a few units, soldered connections, heat shrink, added remote line for fuse 23, and tesa taping the whole kit. If you might want to add an amplifier in the future for a sub I can modify the kit to include a signal line back. The cost for this would be $150 which covers the extra labor and a 20' conductor wire run. I terminate the wire ends with ferrules for a clean installation so there aren't any fray wires. Let me know if interested.
