Default two fast questions

well i am new to the car audio stuff, So i had two questions mainly. To start of i was planing on picking up to 12" kicker subwoofers found a good price on them. What i wanted to know was i have to have a amp right? I know to ask on matching sub's wattage to the amps out up and what. Then the second thing is i relay like my stock 2000 F150 stereo, so i was wondering if i can just hook up my subs to the stock stereo or if i need to go buy a new after market one?

nope you CANT hook your subwoofers up to a stock stereo, yes you will need an amp, the size of the amp is dependant on the power handling of our woofers

and check out dc sound lab vs. kicker, nothing wrong with kicker i own a handful of there woofers but the dc's are better

Loganberry,
There are ways to hook subs up to stock decks. It's just an ugly way to do it. You get inline convertors that sit between the speaker wire, and the speaker, and convert it to an rca jack which plugs into the amps.

Just a thought

he was talking about hooking subwoofers up to his stock deck, 1 its not proper power, 2 it sends it hpf frequiencys as whell, 3 its one quick way to kill your sub

you can get them from ebay or crutchfield, what it does is take your speaker wire inputs into one end, and converts it into rca's on the other, there is a power and ground you hook up and it puts out voltage to the rca's vs doing it the ghetto way, its not horable...and wiring 2 subs together is fine as long as your ohm load is acceptable on your amp and your electrical is up to par
