Default Tweeters 2018 F150

I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for a tweeter upgrade on my new F150. I think the stock tweeters sound pretty bad. Also, anyone know how I determine if my truck has 6 or 7 speakers. I have an XLT with the 302A and Voice Activated NAV.

Thank you for your help!

XLT 302A would be a 7-speaker system. You can tell by the presence of a speaker grille on the dash. 6-speaker systems don't have the center speaker.

Upgrading only the tweeters is a bit tricky because the crossover is built on to the factory tweeters.

The better option would be to get a set of front components with INLINE crossovers. Using inline crossovers, you don't need to run new speaker wire to the tweeters.
Focal Integration, JL Audio C1, Pioneer D-series, and Alpine S-series all use inline crossovers.
The Pioneers have a somewhat low sensitivity, so won't play as loud as the others on factory power.

You have 7 speakers, as others have already said. I've got an 18 xlt 302a supercab. I did Alpine s-s69c in the front and love them. They're separate tweeters and 6x9 woofers, each with their own in-line crossover. I had to make a bridge to mount the tweeters, but did so in their little flush housing so they could be aimed a bit better, but still behind the pillar cover, for a stock look. That set, and a sub make a world of difference in sound quality, even with the stock head unit.

This is what I did with mine. It was fairly easy to do although a little modification to the screens was in order. I like how they came out. They work quite nicely in this configuration.

I upgraded my tweeters and was surprised to find that the OEs looked like the silk domes I was replacing them with. I actually turned around and used the factory tweeters in some desk speakers I built out of left over quality car speakers I had laying around. If you do decide to upgrade be sure you buy quality inductors and capacitors from someone like parts express. The quality of the crossover components have a lot to do with the final sound. My mid range caps are 1.25” in diameter with the tweeter caps at about .75”. The larger they are the more efficient they are at dumping the heat and smoothing out the sound. A simple crossover is nothing more than an inductor to block highs to the woofer and the cap to block the lows to the tweeters and can be inlined without a separate fancy box.
