Troy's 2015 XLT 302a audio build
I started my audio build today.
I'm starting off with upgrading the speakers (not the center speaker)
I installed Focal Access 6 1/2 components in the front stock locations. And Focal Access 6 1/2 coaxials in the rear doors.
No factory wires were cut, I spliced into the wires in the doors. The front components, I installed the "for-11ck" harness and hooked the crossovers up to the harness and ran new wires to the tweeters and used the factory wiring to the door speakers. Since I plan on installing an amp in the future I was going to buy the harness anyway, might as well install it now and not have to mess with the factory wires in the kick panel.
I built my own speaker adapters out of 1/2" medium density fiberboard.
Pictures.
New speakers.
Compare factory rear with the new Focal.
Building the rear speaker adapters.
New rear speaker installed. (Upside down picture?)
New tweeter installed. The little hose on the back of the screw is to protect the factory wires that's behind the tweeter. I wasn't for sure how close everything would be.
New crossovers wired to the "for-11ck" harness.
Another picture of the crossovers double sided taped together.
Compare the factory front speaker and the speaker adapter I was in the process of building.
New front speaker installed.

I finally got the rest of my equipment in. Installing it this weekend. Of course the Focal's were already installed. Just added their boxes to the photo.

I wasn't feeling good this weekend so I didn't get everything finished. The system is in a functional but still needs some buttoning up and tweaking. All in all very impressive.

It does look good.
I didn't want to lose what little floorspace I had (SuperCab). So I went with a single 12" behind the seat. It definitely fills in the lows the stock audio was lacking.

So I flipped the sub upside down (to be a down firing sub) on some Temp blocks to keep the subs off the floor. It sounds much better. Now I need to build some permanent blocks so it looks better. I will try and remember to take a picture tonight.
I'm also going to extend my amp board or build a trim panel to cover the hole, in the factory panel, on the amps side that the power wires are coming out of. I didn't realize that hole was still going to be visible.
