Tesla Style Display

"herkguy" Thanks for the reply.
I did find the buttons for hill assist and four ways in a video. Now I wonder it they can be seen and used without sticking your head into the windshield. (No need to answer)
Some one else mentioned his airbag lights didn't work.
You load DVD formatted discs through the cd player. You can load many more tunes on a DVD disc than a CD. Like I said prior, this is a dying format but my truck already has it and as long as I have numerous DVD's it would be nice to keep using them. It works just fine on the current disc drive. It's obvious that the drive cannot be accessed with this large screen covering the ACM up, but I was really looking to find out if it could be accessed thru the USB's? If the tablet has the codec loaded to play them in that format. Most do not.
I'm still not sure just how this tablet retains all of the Sync functions? As the Sync APIM mounts directly to the rear of the 8" Sync touch screen. I'm sure this is a technical issue that most can't answer. The same is true for the FCIM (bezel) which contains the A/C controls and the select function buttons for the entertainment system. There has to be a software interface someplace for the Android to talk to the HSI and MS buss. Two very different computer codes going on here. I tried to keep the questions simple but I guess I'm asking the wrong people here. Let me just say that the Phoenix may be much more of a can of worms than it is worth. I would do this with extreme caution and never let the Sync system removed out of my site. I think this thing has the potential to turn you $50k truck into a "Rat Rod".
As for the Bluetooth question, One thing that bugs me about connecting a Bluetooth phone to a Sync system is it forces you to use the hands free phone to some degree. Many of the apps included in the Travellink require the phone to be Bluetooth enabled. Such as paying for gas using the Sync screen rather than scanning (inserting) a card into the pump. It take the skimmer's out of play and for you cold weather guys. You can authorize the pump in the warmth of your truck rather than standing out in the thirty below temps. You can accomplish this directly with your phone but the Sync Navigation map coupled with the Sirius Travel link does such a nice job of finding, locating and pricing fuel. Without it, driving down a freeway often time you get off at an exit for fuel only to find the nearest station is several miles away. Or, your favorite brand is not at that exit. I currently use a second phone just to hook up to the Sync system for this.(Usually the wife's) But again! The laws are soon changing and I will need to adapt or get another ticket.
Why Canadian laws? Just let me say Canada allows some things the US does not. Which brings on the next question. How can they market the Phoenix system allowing entries via the screen into the system while moving? That is illegal for a US manufacturer to do or at least none of them choose to allow this. Canada has no such law. YET! Ford Sync systems sold in Canada allow most functions to be entered while in motion. By the way, your answer "stay stock" seems a little terse for our Canadian friends who may have an interest in this system. Almost sound sarcastic!
As for the Climate control "Auto bootleg". It does work as I described with the Sync system. Nothing bootleg about it.
Can Forscan be used? I'm glad you verified that. I should be very easy to load the Forscan app directly to the Android Phoenix system and play with all your settings directly at any time. I don't think it would be a good idea to do so, but I'm sure somebody will try it sooner or later. I was just asking to see if somebody already has done it? The question is really, can you access the can buss with the hard wire connections provided? Being it is an Android table, I was just curious.
Based on your answers the question as to if there may be any DTC's is doubtful. At least weather or not you know. Plugging in a cheap Walmart code reader does not give access to all of them.
It is nice to hear that the Original Sync system can be re-installed as it appear several have already done so. Out of frustration I assume.
Finally, I have to say that this Thread is likely the most unfriendly of the entire Forum. Ask a question? If it's something without a positive answer and your treated poorly. Time to unsubscribe. Too bad for the folks at Phoenix who may have a good product some day.
THERE YA GO!

Edit:
Had to write this because your post is really bugging me. I attempted to answer every one of your rambling, autistic questions. Then, for some reason, you rudely reply to me? Is it because I used short anwers and didn't write incoherent, barely readable paragraphs like you did? I went out of my way to answer all your questions... What a jerk.

Buyer beware!!!! I purchased a unit for my Ford f150 on March 5th from Phoenix android radios. Received an empty box on April 17th. I contacted the company and they have been less then helpful. Emmanuel hung up on me. I asked to either have my monies refunded or provide the radio to me. Alex (manager) told me I was blackmailing and extorting them. I was willing to give this android radio a chance despite its issues. However this company is shady and unprofessional. Not worth the ri

I have the 12 inch screen installed in my f150 xl for about 2 months. I have the ac manual controls but I set my unit to behave as an automatic ac and some controls do work by touch but not all of them however your manual control works and it shows on the screen which is nice. It does retains most of the sync features but not all.

Does anyone know:
1. how to find the radio area on the tesla screen? It is not under the music tab. I can't see the station frequency so I can adjust the settings/frequency.
2. how to get Waze to show police? My option within Waze for police is selected but they do not show up (compared with my phone side by side). I am not sure if this is a app issue or related to the old Android version the tablet is running. I bought this device primarily for Waze, so I am a bit annoyed I cannot see police (accidents and speed traps).
3. I have the "quick boot" version. It still takes about 45 seconds to boot up after the vehicle has been off for a while. Does this sound correct?
4. Is it better to use the F150 bluetooth or the Tablet Bluetooth for phone calls?
5. Is there a way to show on the screen displaying which audio input is selected? (The mode button on steering wheel does not show anything on tesla screen, I have gotten used to cycling through radio but this is not ideal).
6. Is there a way to show the temperature on the screen without a special app that I have to click to (and would otherwise be hidden)? As odd as it sounds, I miss seeing a temperature display.
