Default Subs

Ok here is my delima. I really want a 10w6v2 sub, but am not sure how the mounting will work in my 04 Supercrew. It has the damn jack underneath the seat which just causes problems it seems. Here are the specs for the JL Sub, just need some guidance.

10" Component Subwoofer
RMS Power handling: 400 watts
Dual 4 Ohm 2.75" diameter, 4-layer voice coils
Kapton voice coil former
Customizable trim ring: can be painted to match installation colors
W-Cone: unibody design, extremely stiff and light
Floating-Cone attach method: ensures proper surround geometry for better excursion and voice coil alignment
Plateau-reinforced spider attachment: relieves stress from the spider at high excursions
Pole and cone venting: removes hot air during high power operation to improve sound quality and reliability
Forced-air-cooled aluminim alloy frame: enhances power handling and sound quality
Highly optimized motor systems: reduce distortion, and improve transient behavior
Large, progressive-roll spiders: optimized to controls long excursion without limiting it
Engineered lead wires and connectors: unique configuration block on one side of the basket, extruded lead wire casing ensures reliability and controlled behavior at extreme excursion
Sealed Box Volume: 0.50 - 1.00 cu. ft.
Ported Box Volume: 0.75 - 1.25 cu. ft.
Top Mount Depth 6.9"
Cutout Diameter 9"

That sub is WAY to deep. You would have to make a custom box that sits on the floor, not under the seat, or one on top of the seat. That would be your only option to get a sub that deep to fit.

Tide is right. I say try a different JL that doesn't require alot of mounting depth. JL makes alot of them too.

I built a custom sealed box using 3/4 inch mdf board and i have 2 JL 10W3V2-D4 pointing down. I'm pushing them with a JL AMP 1000/1 mono block! The box is under the seat and the amp is behind the seat of my 04 Supercrew! That is all the power I will ever need. 10 inches is the biggest JL you can fit in the w3 line but i know infinity has a 12 inch sub that will I would have been able to make fit.

check out jl's new stealthbox its a 10", mtx makes the thunderform in a 12". im probably going to get the mtx, just because i found a good deal on one and it comes with a built in amplifer.

http://www.supercrewsound.com is where i will probably get my mtx from, they also have custom fit boxes thanks again to Triton V8 for the link!

I've also seen kits to jack up your back seat an inch or two but i have no idea if it would work in your situation! wM

Build you a box and put it in the floor, I used a 2 pin Deutsch connector on mine so I can slide it out easy when I have extra passengers. Hence the handle too.

If I raised the seat with the LMI lift would that allow room to mount it? I would have to have a box that takes up the entire drivers side for enough air space. Also, where do yall mount the amps? The rear seat doesnt move foward.

The JL 10w6 is a great sub but you will have to go through a lot of trouble to fit it under your seats. "seat lift"
A great sub to consider that's just as good as the 10w6 is the new Type R 10.
http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/swr-1043d
The new Alpine Type R is 20% shallower, handles a ton of power and has more X-max than last years model.
If you want a single sub you can use my driver side box.
http://www.foxacoustics.com/ProductD...de=F150-110-04
or if you want to go with 2 subs "recommended"
http://www.foxacoustics.com/ProductD...de=F150-210-04
Both enclosures have 6.125" mounting depth. The JL 10w3 was my former #1 sub for these enclosures before the Alpine SWR-1043 came out.
Its also a lot more affordable @ $200 per sub.
The Alpine Type R has 20mm of X-max and the JL 10w6 has 15.2mm That's about 125% more cone travel!
