i have a 1991 ford f150 reg. cab and i was wondering where most people put the subs in these trucks

You're thinking under the rear seat in an extended cab, you won't fit much in your regular cab.

I think you'd be a lot better off going behind. Haven't looked under a seat of that gen recently, but I'm sure you'd have to get some super thin subs, making it more expensive for significantly less output.

ya i looked its a pretty tight fit down there...i am new to the audio stuff so i was wondering how easy it is to install myself and what type of amp to use with (10 to 12") subwoofer. that wont break the bank
