What people mean is, if you aren't externally amping, go for slightly more efficient, those in the 3+ ohm range - Infinity makes some of these, I forget the product name, that several F150 owners use and like. Proxima I think is the line.

You'll get better sound replacing the stock speakers in a stock system but don't expect too much out of them and don't overspend if that is all you plan to do. You really need to bypass and externally amp to get a true leap in SQ from stock.
Thats is why I went with the JBL Club speakers they were a little bit more expensive then the JBL GT7 speakers but they are a 3ohm speakers and have been super happy with them.

Whatever works for you and I get the time vs. money side, sure.

As for cleaner though, not sure what you mean - the metra brackets fit perfectly and also they are behind the door panel so....

The brackets are fine I was referring to the wiring hookup when going that route

I don't know how they are run on the XLT series these days but at least with the 2018 upper trims Ford makes a true end to end door wire-swap a PITA; the door grommet the wire goes through is hard to work around without breaking it, for example. It was much easier to just use the adapter and I seriously doubt adapter/stock wiring reuse makes any difference even with higher end upgrades. At the very top level with heavy duty amps, etc. perhaps.

Lots of other stuff is different with the stock/non-B&O system so maybe re-wiring is easier too.
