I hate to break it to ya, but the crossover's don't do anything for the impedence load. All head units are made to run a 4 ohm load. If you wire 2 speakers together you'll get a 2 or 8 ohm load. All the crossover does is prevent the low frequencies.

Im pretty sure it all comes down to RMS. The factory would not have made the mounting brackets for the tweeter if the stock stereo could not push the factory installed speakers. Granted, these are not factory tweeters or speakers, and they do draw more load, but if the factory intended the radio to handle that load thats fine, i just wont get the full power from my 5x7s or tweeters.

The factory tweeter mount is there for the audiophile upgrade. Which means there is probably a factory external amp somewhere, so its made run the mid and the tweeter. RMS has nothing to do with it. What I'm trying to tell you is that having a 2 or 8 ohm load on the head unit will hurt it in the long run.

ok first off your wrong about stock headunits impedance load, many headunits can be ran at 2 ohms...SAFELY what the crossover does is break up the power and frequiences AS WHELL AS balance out the final load, so ur telling me that because im running an active three way system with a 8 ohm neoprym tweeter and 2 6 ohm mids that im at what ohm load? (u do the math) no, im at 4 ohm final load...it all matters on the crossovers, because not only do they distrubite the power and lpf/hpf evenly they are much more complex than that simple function....dplummer you are fine, your at 4 ohms because of your crossover and there should be no issue...just eventually get an amp or even upgrade you deck...you have a 75w rms+ front stage in each door and ur headunit is putting out 12w rms on a good day, your sound will be clearer, crisper and louder off a amp or different headunit
