Default Speaker adapters

Can I use plywood instead of mdf to make speaker adapters ? in the town I live in I can't buy anything smaller than a 4'x8' sheet of mdf but I have a partial sheet of 5/8" plywood laying around, just wondering if it would be ok.

Can you get a hold of some plastic (LDPE) cutting boards?

any wood will need to be treated with something to lock out moisture.

Both posts are good ^^^^ dollar store thick plastic cutting boards work, that's what I will be doing instead of the crummy thin adapters I got from metra.

Thanks for the advice guys. I didn't realize that I had a chunk of material (1/4" thick) similar to the pastic cutting board big enough to make four adapters so I guess that is what I'll be using.
