I forgot to add that I am installing this weekend along with 4 kicker ks68s. I may add tweeters later in the sail panel front door later if needed. Again thanks for the inspiration.

I would add the tweeters while you have everything apart, cuz you will later. I installed coax in the front doors and am changing them out and installing components.

I just did this mod today and must say it is definately worth the $130.00 I spent on the amp and adapter harness (all from Ebay).

A couple of install notes to help those who are installing per this thread:

1) Solder as many wires that color-match on BOTH ENDS of the amp-to-adapter harness as you can. If it matches color, solder it together.

2) The back of the factory head unit is a FEMALE connector, which takes the smaller MALE connector from the adapter harness. The female connector of the adapter harness plugs into the trucks chassis harness.

THUS: Wire the Alpine Amp's yellow fused wire side to the FEMALE (bigger) side of the adapter harness.

3) The BLUE/WHITE TRACER wires: On the adapter harness, cut the ORANGE/BLACK TRACER wire in half. Wire it in like every other wire you are soldering. Thus: ORANGE/BLACK goes to BLUE/WHITE.

Just remember this amp is of a PASS THROUGH type. Wires come in and goe out through this amp.

DONT OVERTHINK the install, just solder all your wires together. Other than cutting the connectors off ALL the wires on both the AMP and ADAPTER harnesses, the ONLY wire you deviate from this and cut is the ORANGE and BLACK tracer wire. You DO cut this wire in half and wire inline with the amp.

3) On the XL/XLT trucks like the original post, amp placed under stereo console: No need to take off the lower console black wrap around trim. When you install the amp behind the stereo, just drop the amp and wiring into the existing hole under the stereo into this area. It just falls into this area and sits there. Simple.

This amp makes the factory stereo have some *****. It sounds great. It will make you change your factory speakers out the next day for sure. Its a fantastic mod.

My $.02

Seems like a waist of time to me. It can't produce any more power then an aftermarket radio, and that isn't much of an upgrade for power.

Hope you are happy but if I was going to pull the dash apart it wouldn't have been to go from 5 watts to 7 watts per channel.

It doubled the volume of the stock HU. if not more. It also made the music more dynamic. Don't get where you are coming from.

45 watts per channel still not crazy power but still a good upgrade

I also got my amp in this weekend. I did not do the speakers yet. This is definatly worth the money. It makes the factory speakers come to life. I cannot wait to get my kicker speakers in. I just need to find the time. This little amp is a great addon and very simple. 45 watts per channel is a big step up.

I took the bait...

I just purchased a new 2011 Lariat Screw 4x4 last month and once my erection went down I immediately started thinking about upgrading the audio. I want to keep the stock unit and don't want to sacrifice any floor space in the rear.

Here's what I've purchased and plan to install in the next week or so. Thanks for the great idea... hoping this setup will deliver.

Alpine KTP-445: $107.99
QCEXP-1 Bluetooth Harness: $39.99 (I hope this is the right one?!?)
Infinity Kappa 680.9cs (front): $107.95
Infinity Kappa 682.9cf (rear): $72.49
Sound Ordnance B-8PT 8" powered sub: $159.99
EFX Amplifier Wiring Kit: $FREE (thanks crutchfield)
Auto trim and molding tool set: $5.00

Total with shipping: $493.41

You are going to love this setup. I finally got my speakers in and I also did a 10 inch Memphis mclass sub with an American Bass amp. This system freakin rocks. The kickers sound great with the alpine amp pushing them and the sub hits hard.

Default Help please!!!

I finished my install tonight and everything sounds AMAZING... well, everything except my driver door which currently has NO sound!

I think this may be a wiring error on my part with the aftermarket speakers themselves, not necessarily the amp because they played fine before the amp install and then played at low volume after the amp but would cut out at med-high volume. Now, there's simply no sound.

Any ideas??
