Do I splice the speaker level inputs for the powered sub to the end of the 445u that had the rca plugs that cut off to make this harness? I'm assuming the sub has to be wired in before the Alpine, so is this the input side? Sorry for the very novice question and digging up an old thread but I have the 445u installed and my powered sub is on its way. Thanks!
Tap in before the Alpine for the sub.

Thanks! I actually got it all hooked up a couple days ago. Just took the 4 wires from the sub and soldered them into the 4 rear speaker wires in the metra harness going from the head unit to the input side of the amp. Not earth shattering, but a definite step up from the factory setup! Thanks again for the reply.

Phew ! Lots of info in this kick *** thread. Just finished up & ordered a Parrot FOR-11CK for my '15 XLT. I ordered the harness first cuz it's on back order (2-3 weeks via Amazon). Also gonna go w/ the Alpine KTP-445U to see what it does for my stock speakers.
I'll more than likely get aftermarket speakers but contemplating on Components for the front & 2 way or 3 ways for the rear ?? Not sure what would be better for my truck being that there's tweeters in the A pillars. Any advice ??

By the way.... Thank you everyone for taking the time to help others in here. Love communities like this

I had a professional give me advice on my setup which is listed above somewhere. He would have had me just disconnect the rear speakers. He was all about making a 'concert stage' type environment. I sometimes have back seat riders so I compromised and just left the stockers in. They are amplified but the gain is turned down so you don't hear them in the front seat.

I threw some Kickers in the doors and left the stock tweeters hooked up. Just about anything is better than the stock ones.

Do u think I should go w/ Components in the front doors cuz there's already tweeters in the pillars ?

Sure you can. You are amping them so they will sound good. There are a lot out there so your budget will determine what you get.

Well, after all of these years I finally installed my KTP-445u in my 2011. I wanted to make a post that included some things that I was a little vague on in the hopes of helping someone in the future.

I used the Metra harness and soldered all of the matching wires in the comfort of my house. This is the easiest way to do it. You DO NOT need to use the blue / white wire on either side of the amp when you aren't using the RCAs. If you cut your RCAs off than just secure the the blue / white wires with some electrical tape, etc. The yellow power cable needs to be connected on both sides of the harness. I cut out a section of the insulation, spread the wires, and inserted the wire through the gap and pulled the strands onto each side of the "main" yellow wire that you're "splicing" into and around. I followed that up with some solder and electrical tape. I mounted the amp below the tray on the top of the dash. I have seen some photos where it seemed like people were able to install it right in the center. However I wasn't able to mount it in the center because I have the small Sync screen above the radio bezel and it is in the way. I was hoping to use some 3M VHB but there isn't really anything under there that provides a good surface for that so I ended up securing the amp with zip ties.

Most importantly make sure you adjust the switches on the back of the amp! I would do this before anything so you don't forget. You need to make sure you change it to speakers instead of RCA which is how it comes from Alpine. If not, you will get popping, static, etc and it will sound like your speakers are blown. I was pretty bummed when I first tried it and thought great this isn't right. I recommend setting the speakers at 80 - 100 mhz and tune it using the gain until you get distortion and then back it off. It's not too bad of an install at all and there is plenty of good information in this thread.

Well, I thought I had it in and finished. I got in my truck last night and realized my Kicker VSS Soundstage 10" subwoofer isn't working. On top of that my hard wired radar detector isn't working either. I have no idea why either of them aren't working as I didn't touch anything to do with either of them. Also to note, I only have the powered Kicker VSS 10" subwoofer. Obviously I do not have the Kicker VSS Soundstage kit that also includes the door speaker amp although right now I'm wishing I did...

I'm at a loss right now on this. I checked both fuses and the fuses are good. I'm going to check the ground for the Kicker subwoofer and see if it even has power going to it but I'll need to loosen up the subwoofer to see if it's got power. I disconnected and reconnected all of the other connections but nothing. I have a battery charger on the truck right now since during the install yesterday the battery did get drained enough to throw the low battery alert on the instrument cluster message center. Kicker claims a low battery can cause the subwoofer to not work.

Anyone have any ideas on this?

Could be, low voltage may kick the amp off into protect mode. Charge up, see how it does.
