I would suggest a JL 10tw3. Sounds great paired with the JL xd 600/1 amp.

This one might be the best as far as power and fitting where you need it to. Only 9 inches long

Nice! I'm so old skool I didn't even know precision power was still around. The hifonics would defiantly be snug for wiring but the mounting brackets seemed to provide extra clearance. Think I'll pull the trigger on one of those PP amps.

Rodney's a little worried that the magnet might not clear the back of the box and he also mentioned the front hitting the carpet potentially. Seen some vids and it does look like the sub has alot of movement.

Any thoughts, other subs... Had my mind set on the sundowner crap

That sucks. I can't recommend anything shallower. The only shallow subs that are worth using are the StereoIntegrity BM and the JL 13two or 10tw5

I have bought a number of boxes from Rodney and they have all worked great and looked perfect. My current one I bought empty with an opening for a 12" sub and the amp rack he has built in.

I have a current year shallow mount RF P3SD2-12 sub wired to 4 Ohm since that what my single channel MB Quart amp will push. It sounds fantastic. I previously had a single 4 ohm Kicker shallow mount using the same box and amp and it was a joke by comparison.

Here is a link to the sub:
Amazon Amazon

The fit is VERY VERY tight both in the opening for the mounting flange as well as the depth. He cuts a hole in the back of the box and puts the Kicker metal plate back there for magnet clearance and this sub needs all of that space.

I am able to get the MBQuart amp as well as the AudioControl Lc2i in the space he makes for the amp rack. Everything fits, no holes drilled, and sounds fantastic for a shallow mount setup.

This might be what I need. The RF P3SD2-12 sub @2ohms powered by the amp King Nothing recommended:
JBL GTO-501EZ

Emailed Rodney to see if that sub and box would work but if you had no issues I should be good to go!!!!

The sub TJ linked to is a dual 2ohm sub. You will either need a dual 4 or single 2ohm with that JBL amp

6.66 inches. Way too deep

that would work, but I'm simply not a fan of any shallow sub except the SI BM or JL 13tw5
