i used mdf but thats because i have so much of it around my house since im always changing subwoofer boxes
thanks I was at car toys and the guy told me that if put 6.5 in my truck I would have to cut some of the metal out of my door...I have a 2000 does that sound right? he told me to use 5.25

never done an install on the 2000 but you shouldnt have to, your truck is 5x7/6x8 all around, should be minimal trimming if any
