Default Replacement Head Unit 2011 F150

Ok so here is what I want opinions on. I'm looking to change my factory door speakers to something better than the crap factory ones, probably the Alpine SPR-68 or Infinity Kappas.

Now, I'm looking into a good head unit that will allow me to keep my Sync/bluetooth/satellite. Crutchfield recommended the Kenwood (which I like) DPX501B with the PAC audio MSFRD1 and SWI-RC interfaces, plus the dash kit. Not a bad price for all of on Crutchfield, about the same on amazon. What do you guys think? I also would like to go ahead and run the wiring for a small subwoofer/amp to put under the rear seat, comparable to the factory Sony one some Fords come with. Maybe an 8 or 10 inch speaker later on down the road. Any suggestions on brands for that?

Lots of options on that. I'm happy with my MTX Thunderform loaded with a 10" Kicker CompVT. I used a 5 channel Alpine PDX-V9, 100x4 + 500x1.

I wanted to clarify something. The Kenwood head unit says it can run 4-8 ohms. If I went with 2 ohm door speakers (not off of a four channel amp rather using the head units power) wouldn't I be risking overheating or burning up the head unit?

First I would go with a Kenwood HU that you could use Maestro with. Much easier to install than the FRD1 and the SWC harness.
Second, on small amp such as one built in to the HU I wouldn't go 2 ohm.

Thanks! I ended up getting the frd1 and swc just because I found one for a steal. I think I'll run the wires for a five channel amp while I'm installing the hu, just in case I decide to want more oomph out of the door speakerslater
