I am going in a little bit of a different direction. I am going to splice into the current aux input cord so that I don't alter the look of the dash tray. I have also decided to install my new aux input inside my center console along with dual cigarette lighter plugs.

That way I don't even have to unplug my MP3 player, I just open the console and pull it out when I get in truck and put it back when I get out. The cable doesn't hinder the closing of the center console, so not a problem. I am adding dual cigarette lighter plugs as well so that there is a power source inside the center console. I always thought there should have been one there anyway. I picked up a dual cigarette lighter connection for $6.

If anyone is interested in this set-up, I can post pics when I am done or provide more details about the wiring.
Please do post as many pics as u can. Im getting ready to add the same.in my console. Good luck. Can't wit to see the location u use in the console.
