Default Questions about Alpine Head unit and speakers and sub

Hi guys, I currently have a 2016 F150 XLT SCREW. I have the alpine ILX-207 head unit with the maestro module. I am thinking of adding a sub and upgrading speakers but am unsure how to go about this with non-oem stuff going on already.
I think the speaker upgrade should be easy enough, I have seen references to Infiniti speakers that sounds like a good budget upgrade as well as being plug and play.
For the sub, I was looking at either an alpine sub or kicker hideaway. Is this something I would need an amp for? It doesn't seem like it based on what I have read about the or system upgrades.
I am just not sure about other potential fine details I am missing due to already having an aftermarket head unit.

I have an Alpine X009-FD2 with Maestro, Polk Audio door speakers and a Kicker sub made for oem. The Kicker sub is self powered. I have an amp on the way that's plug-n-play with the head unit. This one... https://www.crutchfield.com/p_500KTP...ck.html?tp=115 perhaps it's plug-n-play for your model?

Even now without the amp the sound is amazing, that kicker sub really pulls the entire sound spectrum together.

thanks for the response! I appreciate the help. So what is the amp for then if the Polk speakers work already and the sub is self powered?

LOL well if some power is good, more power is better? I've got a ton of 70's and 80's music concerts under my belt so my hearing isn't exactly what it use to be.

I have the Alpine Amp linked above in my 06 F150. All you have to do to install it is plug the amp it into the Alpine head unit and plug the wiring harness into the amp. The amp gets power from the Alpine head unit and you're done. Easy peasy.

Does anyone know if ForScan is still needed to enable the sub? There is an option on the head unit to enable a sub. I have seen on the Factory Sub thread, that this is needed when using the factory head unit. But unsure about when using an aftermarket head unit.

Usually the Enable Sub setting on an aftermarket head unit only enables the sub pre-amp output rca connectors.

correct, assuming the ACM is still being used via the Maestro harness and control box for at least some audio functions.
