PXE-H660 Wiring
Hey All,
I am gathering up all the components to install in my 11 FX4 Scab with the Non-Sony system with Sync.
I currently have the following hardware from my old truck.
Amps: Phoenix Gold Xenon 100.4 and 400.1
Speakers: Fronts - Focal PS165 and haven't decided on rears yet.
Sub: JL 12W6v2 that I am going to try and mount under my rear seat with a LMI lift. If can't make that fit I will pick up a Alpine Type-R Shallow.
I am going to retain my Factory HU and pick up a PXE-H660.
So my question is how are you guys wiring up the PXE? I would prefer not to cut the factory harness, but I will if I have too.
Also if there is something better then the PXE in the $250 price range let me know what you think.
Thanks guys.

I had the 660 and didn't like the fact it acted funny when tuning. Different results every time I ran the setup. I went with the Audison Bit One due wanting more control and wanted to use a laptop to tune everything....much....much easier. Audison is pretty expensive, can be had for around 600-$650. I can sit in the drivers seat and tune to my liking- better yet, when I get my RTA, I can tune it very quickly.
As for wiring, I used the metra harness and 9 conductor speed wire so I didn't have to mess around with factory wiring. I did the wiring like this guy http://www.f150online.com/forums/200...head-unit.html

Some will say to run better wiring, but I have yet to be able to audibly hear any difference in speaker wire gauge. I used 18 gauge 9 conductor speed wire.

Thanks lizardking1 that's exactly what I was looking for!!!
I looked into the Audison unit but man that is pricey. For a few hundred more I could just go with an Aftermarket HU and Sync adapter...decisions decisions, lol.

i just installed my H660 this past weekend. And I cut into the stock harness. I had problems but only 'cause I hadn't read the entire Alpine manual yet and i lost SNYC + BT (Back now. Had to reset it. )
For the money it's pretty good little unit. Good news is that I can swap it out for something better later (Bit one, for example). The tuning I did was really quick. I need to redo it and hook the laptop up to it. At first i was just trying to get sound. Now that's fine, time to really do some tuning.
Oh, and I didn't use factory speaker wires. Don't know if I'll ever notice the difference, but I did it anyway.

I agree for $200-$250 it does work okay. Just wish the Imprint wasn't so fickle. Changed the sound every time I did it. I also wish you could tune with laptop. Doesn't really let you do anything.
