Default Polk Audio mm or db??

Hey gents,

I'm planning to upgrade my stock speakers in front and back and think I've narrowed it down to Polk mm6501 or db6501 components up front and mm571 or db571 coaxials in the back.

The db's will run about $170.00 for front/back while the mm's will cost $290.00 for front/back. Will run these off a small 4-channel amp. No plans to install a sub.

I have a 2011 Lariat Screw 4x4... base stereo. No Sony. No touchscreen.

Question: are the mm's worth the additional $120.00?!? I'm thinking not, but wanted to check before I pull the trigger...

Thanks!! O'yeah... Happy New Years!

I initally upgraded to Polk db571 in all 4 doors. A very noticable upgrade over factory. Hearing so many say install components in the front I installed MM6501 in front. The MM were a notciable upgrade over the db. The cost more but were worth it to me.

Do yourself a huge favor run components all the way. I did Polk mm 6.5 up front and 5.25 in the back. They sound so clear. I really believe that your back can muddy the front up. I have ~75rms going to each. Polks are like 2.7 ohms i think.Try sonic for a better price.

Thanks for the info... Do you think the improvement was because you were going from coaxial to component or db to mm? or both??

Never thought about components in the back... I'll look into it. Are you running off HU or an amp? If an amp, what are you using?

Amped. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...GM-D9500F.html

Most people are quick to say pioneer is junk, but most local stores really like this amp. It's very small. It fits under my driver side power seat. I have an x930bt headunit and two Jl 10w3v3's with the mono components it's a really nice budget setup IMO.

I think both. The MM have better bass response and the high are crisper.

It really depends on the power you are going to put to them . The mm handle more power so will sound cleanet with bigger power and the db are a little more efficient so will sound good witjvlowe power. If you are goinh with sau 50 watts or less use the db. If are going with Say a 75 watt per channel or more then go with the mm. Really either way you cant go wrong.
