PAC AP4-FD21 Question non Sony

Has anyone used the PAC AP4 in a XLT with the 8" Sync with 7 speaker system. I've read that it will work, and I've also read it will only work with the Sony amp based system. Anybody ???

It is for the Sony factory amp only
