Default Got Broken Into, Pissed!!!

I've only had my system for a month or so, and I already got broken into. They popped the keyhole in, and opened the door rather easily it seems. This is the second time I get broken into in the last 2.5 years. My truck got broken into the same exact way 2.5 years ago, and my wallet was stolen from the center console. This time, they took everything minus my amps. They took my Alpine Headunit, an ipod, sub, headrest TV's portable nav, ect.... Man what a bummer. To make matters worse, they cut my factory HVAC fan control harness, so I've had to rig up some quick connectors to control the fan. I'll have to go to a junk yard to try and find the missing factory molex connector they stole.

Why is it so freaking easy to break into these trucks? I need to install an aftermarket alarm system, with an Air Horn system like I used to have years ago on an old truck.

What can be done to re-enforce the door handles on these trucks? It seems as criminals on the street know how to easily get into these trucks.

one way to keep your keyhole from getting punched is a jimmi jammer. as for the radio you could run a wire around the unit so next time they pop it out they get a good jolt.

has some good stuff there. sorry to here the bad news

As dumb as this sounds...

I cable my head unit in. I have a screw with tamper proof torx and screw it into the back of the unit and connect it to the body under the dash. It won't completely stop the unit from being stolen, but it sure will slow them down.

I also have a $100.00 deductible so feel free to break into my truck.

Lightbulb Put a rear door handle on (w/out key hole)

Mine was broken into in April and I ended up putting a rear door handle up front for only $70. That way there is one less keylock cylinder for them to pop to get into the truck. A body shop mechanic I visited with about it made the recommendation as he says they have at least a couple trucks a week they are doing this for (both F150s and SuperDutys). It obviously won't stop them, but it makes it harder. Two caveats are that if you do this to both doors you won't have a backup way to enter the truck if keyless fails, and thieves may end up jacking up the door or breaking a window instead. Just my 2 cents. Good luck getting everything back in order. Todd

I like that idea. But a dead battery, and you are screwed.
A way to manually open the hood from the outside, so you could at least hook up some power to the battery and unlock the doors would be nice.
I'm going to have to put a little thought into this one.

To OP. Sucks about your truck man. Theives are the scum of the earth.!!

Damn dude!!! Sorry about your loss but you really should get an alarm! I like the idea of the Viper 5901 with the iphone app but thats because I already have a iphone, but if you dont just get a system with a two remote so the remote pages you when something is wrong! Good luck!!

I just had the Viper System installed with the Smart Start option, and the iphone app. Seems to work pretty good so far. My insurance company sent me a new headunit, so I will be installing it this week.
