No the install was not hard at all. If you use the optional installation harness with the Maestro all you have to do is connect the Kenwood plugs to it (I soldered and used heat shrink tubing). This harness plugs right into the Ford factory plugs and then you have two wires to connect to pins 6 and 14 of the OBD connector (I think those are the correct numbers, I don't have the install instructions handy). That's it.
If you don't use the optional harness the there's a lot more work because you wont have the plugs to go into the factory Ford radio connections so you'll have to hardwire them all in. So I think the optional harness is the way to go.

Hi,
The harness you need is the ADS-HRN(SR)-FOR01. It does not come with Maestro, you need to buy it separate. The OBDII connector is the diagnostic connector under your dash and 2 wires from the T-harness that get connected there. The guide explains those connections.
Cheers,

I mounted the nav antenna inside the truck on the dash. I made a small notch in the side of the tray on the dash and ran the wire up there. The antenna sits on the dash right between the tray and the defroster vents. Its completely out of the way and is barely noticeable sitting there.
