For those with similar KW units and nav problems, it looks like there is an internal SD card that can get corrupted. Some have fixed it themselves:

Just updated my 892's firmware from version 1.4 to 1.5, and the bluetooth profile from 2.1c to 2.1f!

Pretty straight forward using usb thumb drives. Took 10 mins for the firmware update, and 5 for the bluetooth profile...

Suppose to Improve Nav functions, Bluetooth functions, and Sirius XM functions! Even though all seemed flawless b4....

Installed my Pac usb adapter in my console today. It was straight forward, and only took 25 minutes to unblolt the console, drill hole, and run wire under carpet to the HU....

Works great, and easily accessible... Best part is it only cost 11.00!

Now I have 128GB of music between my 2 usb ports, Sync and Kenwood. Each using a 64GB micro usb drive.

Im loving this 892, just added a 2nd Pac USB adapter cable into my console for the rear 2 usb ports off the Kenwood.

Using a 1 ft ipod usb cable, I mounted my Ipod inside my console as well. By using a cell phone mount with 2 sided tape, and a adapter piece on my ipod touch case for removal.

Its also nice seeing all of the Albums Artwork, whereas Sync doesnt display it!

Couldnt stand the way the Metra radio bezel looked with the silly inner trim piece. So I ordered the Scosche radio bezel, as it sits flush to the HU w/out a trim ring.

Imo, its a much, much cleaner looking install now and as close looking to oem as possible with the Scosche bezel. Judge for yourself! I picked it up on Amazon for $26.99 shipped....

It appeared today that my maps on the navigation somehow lost all the roads except for major roads. No side streets or anything.

So I called Kenwood up and they told me to upgrade to the latest firmware (Version 1.6). So I downloaded it and installed it in accordance with the pdf on the update webpage. Took about 10 minutes to update.

It reboots and I go to click on "view map" and the navigation freezes. Not the head unit itself...just the navigation portion of the head unit. So I reboot it again, and then I click on the "where to" icon. My saved addresses were gone (as I figured they would be) so I go to click on the address to type in an address and I get a pop-up that says "no map data available". Great.

Reinstalled the update a couple more times, and got the same results.

Called Kenwood back and they said it's a known problem that a lot of people are encountering. One tech I talked to said they're working on a new firmware to fix this "no map data available" problem and then I got disconnected when I went out to get the serial number from my truck. So I called again and got a different tech and they told me that the new firmware "might" fix it and right now the only way to fix this is to send my head unit into a service center (NY, NJ, VA or CA are all they have....nothing in the midwest). Good god I'm so frustrated right now. I really don't want to go without a stereo for a month that it's likely going to take to fix it and send back.

Anyone else have this problem here? I don't know how many people here have bought one of these new 2013 Kenwood nav units...but they did say it's kind of common in the new ones I guess.
I have been having similar problems my GPS says is need to update which is understood. But a month ago I was driving a 14 hr trip and my vehicle losses all power in my control boards, windshield wipers came on, dim lights came on too. My radio went black and all my gauges dropped mesage board saying NO BUS; while I had my cruise set going down the road. I lost no power as far as the vehicle I could accelerate and stop. I pulled over turned my vehicle off and restarted it and all was well. That happened about 10 times on my trip but when I got home it has done it 2 time in a month. Today my screen and music stopped and now displays DC OFFSET ERROR.. I know this isn't an answer to your question but you are not alone and any help would be much appreciated and in stupid terms please this might as well be in Spanish

Don't quote me on this But I believe DC OFFSET ERROR means you have a bad connection or short in one of you speaker wires.

Just curious, does anyone know what the Symbol in the Upper RightHand corner of the screen Means?

See P24 in your GPS navigation instruction manual.
It is the smart phone link symbol.
