The real question is what you are looking to get...
Do you just want more volume. Thats what I wanted and I just keep the stock head unit and went for a amp. Now Im very Happy...

you could also just put bass-blockers on all your speakers instead of doing a low-pass filter. I did that on my tacoma when I changed out the head unit and added a sub.

You can get them at different Hz ranges based on what your sub-performance is. They are pretty inexpensive, then you can spend the rest of your cash on a decent amp/sub setup.

well i already have the sun and amp,
2 kicker cvt 800w, crunch 2ch 1000w
soo what should i do, sell it? keep it and get bass blockers
Note: speakers are connected to head unit, not the amp, just the subs
i was gunna get a new head unit for the sub's

Really up to you on how far you want to take it and what you want to spend.... bass blocking is a cheap way to protect your door speakers.
If all you want a new headunit for is to get a low-pass filter, the blockers solve that problem for much less. If you want more features from your headunit then go ahead and upgrade that instead.
More about giving you options then telling you which to do.
