To add a Amp to a stock head unit all you need to find is a high level input amp.. Thats what I have... I have a Kenwood KAC-8405...

Just run the speaker wires from the head unit to the Amp and then the wires to the speakers from the Amp.

Or you can add a line output converter if you already have an amp that doesnt have hi level input. all you do is attach the converter wires to you speaker wires and RCAs from your amd to the converter

Amazon Amazon

they are relatively cheap compared to a head unit or new amp

just my opinion, if youre really going for clean, nice bass id stay away from the shallow mounts. its not that they sound bad, but if you can fit a full size sub in the difference in sound quality is huge. thats just how i see it, but im all about the sound quality. i removed the smaller portion of my backseat to fit a 15" rockford T1 and a 500w alpine amp. box, sub, wires, and amp for less than 500 dollars. takes up a little room and took a little work, but now that its finished, i wouldnt want any other setup(in the same price range)
