Did you check to make sure that the speaker lead connector on the back of the factory head didn't get pulled out partially when you were working with the wires?

I never got near the back of the radio it self, all my work was done in the kick panels, or b pillars.

I ordered a double din Clarion w/ the PAC ford interface and a Metra dash kit. Hopefully I'll get it installed this coming week. This will make the whole install easier, but now I need to sell my cleansweep, since I dont need it. Does anyone know whether or not the scenario I explained of having amp juice sent to the stereo instead of the speaker could fry the speaker output in the factory radio? The whole thing seems weird to me.

If it sent your amp into protection, it would probably do the same thing to your head unit. Any chance there's a head unit reset procedure in your owner's manual?

My amp was never in protection, and there are no resets on the head unit, its got to be something internal.

sounds like you need a fluke meter and just start with your radio and work your way from there hitting every connection. i had a jeep that short circuited and instead of blowing a fuse it burn a wire IN TWO.
