Need opinions on door speakers

I have a 2003 f150 extended cab.my frot passenger side speaker is blown and I'm wanting to get new all the way around.what are yal running.im looking for good loud clear sound that I can hear over my subs.and 1 question does the stereo it's self effect what the music sounds like.i have a little kenwood that is simple as can be

Your head unit makes all the difference in the world. As for speakers, you will get a hundred different responses on which brand to run, it's all biased to whatever that person runs. I personally like Infinity brand coaxials, and have heard nothing but good reviews on Polk's as well.

I love my Polk momos! My advice go to a few local stereo shops and listen to speakers then buy them online unless they will get close to the online price. I like buying local, but there is a point my wallet makes the choice.

I have ploks, but mine are amped so that sound awesome. Get a nice 4ch amp and run your speakers off that.

i got a set of kenwoods installed two days ago, my back door speakers are blown and just got the front two done. i really like em, they sound really nice with country music. just as good with rock or rap music. very clear sound

I put in 4 kicker ks68s. I did not like them at first till I put the sub in and was able to turn down the bass going to the doors. Now they sound incredible. It all depends on if you are going to run an amp or a sub. If I would not have a sub I probably gone with a different door speaker.

Kicker has great speakers. I have 4 kicker 6/8s and I absolutely love them. There incredibly clear and it's in a 2004 with the stock sub

so for ive found no problems with my kenwoods, dont have as much bass as id like but the clarity is awesome

For me it was either the kicker ks68 or the kenwood excellons. The kickers were on sale at Best Buy for 75. A pr so it was happy birthday to me.

I put a set of Kenwood 6.5" components in my front doors and was pretty pleased with them. I am running them off of my 3300bt and it powers them pretty well. The one downsize that I found was the "inline crossover". I thought that it was just a regular crossover, but it's just something wrapped up in heatshrink that you can't adjust. It's nice not to have to mount the crossover, but you can't adjust your highs.

other than that downside though you like them? and how is the bass on them btw?. i got a little christmas present for myself and had two kenwood 6x8 put in. problem is when i was gettin them put in i found out my back two speakers were blown, so at some point i need to put in two more. i love the clarity of the ones i have, but i want them in the back and get some put in the front that has some good bass. "maybe the excellons?" im not sure about that though, ive been told to put kickpanels in but thats more than i wanna spend.

They aren't much for bass. I bought them for the mid-range sound. The tweeters are pretty nice also. You won't be getting huge bass out of any door speaker, that's what subs are for. One thing that does help them out is soundproofing your doors. I did a cheapo soundproofing that improved the sound a lot.

I went with the Infinity Kappas and Roadkill.

powerranger262 01-09-2012 12:45 PM

^ I put a set of those Infinitys in my rear doors. I love those speakers, and they have taken a beating for about 5 years now, and still sound as good as the day that I bought them.

ksillman 01-10-2012 09:28 PM

They rock hard and are very clean and crisp . Mounted the tweets in the stock position by the window defrost duct. So far so good.

ksillman 01-10-2012 09:39 PM

Had trouble with a set of Memphis power reference coax in front doors . The sound stage was to low and gave me sensation that I was deaf in my left ear. After listening to the infinity components I came to the conclusion that any brand coax would have this issue.

Stock HU with Infinity 6830 components in the front with 6832's in the rear of my 2011 SCAB. That along with an MTX Thunderform powered sub makes for a complete night and day transformation to an otherwise mundane factory system.
