It was a close call for me. I have their Stealthbox and that thing will take a beating for sure. If the sub ever goes bad I will pull it and replace it with another JL sub. Love their products so far. The Alpine was $60 cheaper thanks to Amazon Prime so it won out. Otherwise it would likely have been the JL Audio RD.

Ha! I found a pic of my very first amp. Same exact one. lol. Ah the memories. I had this pushing two 10" crappy subs in a home made plywood box with more leaks than Apple Inc. just before an iPhone release. I was so excited when my rear view mirror vibrated for the first time. Hahaha!!

I'll see your internet photo, and raise you an actual one! I still HAVE my first amps: the PB-700A below, and a PB-400A that's stashed in the garage attic. They actually sounded surprisingly good for what they are.

For others who might be looking for 5-channel amp info, I'm *very* pleased with the tiny (in size, but not sound) Soundstream Picasso Nano I installed behind the seat in my '03 and which is driving Alpine 6.5" Type R components in the front, 6x8 Type S coax units in the rear doors, and a single sealed 10" Kenwood sub. The head unit is a Pioneer AVH-4100NEX, and the sound quality from this system is very impressive. More info is in the link in my signature below.

Wow! lol. When I bought my 600 they had a bigger one in purple and white. I wanted it so bad. I could not afford it though.

I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the Alpine when I unboxed it. I am off work at 7am and will be heading home to install it. I still need to read up on how to dial it in though. It doesn't come with a disc like the Fosgate did.

Looks like I owe Fosgate an apology. I got the Alpine connected. No sound. Won't even come on, just like the Fosgate. THis was an expensive mistake on my part. Volt meter says +12 to Hot and Remote and ground is as solid as it has always been. Will loss of signal from the audio controller cause no lights on an amp? I looked at my LC6i and the power LED is red but the "Connected to Main Channel" LED's and the Maximised LED are all dark. I don't know if those are supposed to be lit up or not. I think the maximized flickered when I was tuning it in.

I looked up that Alpine amp, and it looks like a great choice! The Soundstream is in a slightly lower class (60x4 + 320) but it's loud enough for me, and fit the space I wanted to use. The price was right, too.

I wasn't too worried about space for the Pyramid stuff back then.

Wuh-oh!
I don't know much about the LC6i. Might be worth a call to Audio Control. Does that Alpine (or the Fosgate) have high-level inputs? If so, I'd suggest bypassing the converter to see if *it* may be defunct.

Good luck! Troubleshooting sux.

P.S. Some amps have auto turn-on with audio signal, but it uses a remote turn-on lead, *that* should power up the unit. Sound slike another manufacturer question to verify (if the instruction manual doesn't specify).

If I connect just the hot and ground the Alpine still doesn't come on. I have the remote wire running through my LC6i and I think that might be an issue for the Alpine even though I didn't even have it connected for the RF since it had that AutoSense as a backup. I am off the next 2 days. Looks like I get to start digging into it. I rolled down my passenger front window and hear a clunk noise. I'm sure that can't be good. I will start there tonight when I wake up for the night. All this from sliding off the highway into a field. Go figure.

Wow, you were really rocking the Pyramids! lol. Carpet and everything. What kind of car is that? Looks like a 90's Stang?

It was a clean install (the first "real" system I'd ever done) with two 10" Pioneers between the amps. The vehicle was my '87 5.0 LX. I miss that car.
