Sounds like you might have a bad unit. Since you said the unit doesn't boot up properly, I don't think it's a handshake issue with the JL amp.
Thanks for the info! I’m going to use RCA for a while and see if it’s more reliable.

My only other option is to swap this out for a JL Fix or one of the Audio Control units but I hate the idea of trying to “polish a turd signal”

thanks again!

The Zen works perfectly on plenty of trucks with toslink. My first course of action would be to contact NavTV tomorrow before I made any changes or even considered replacing it with either of those two options. For what this unit costs, they will make it right. Just call them. Heck, Moni, the owner, is a member on this forum.

Another update: I went through a pretty substantial re-tune this afternoon using my new AudioFrog RTA instead of my trusty UMIK-1. Totally different tuning process but a very welcoming change. I definitely recommend reading this process from Andy at AudioFrog. A Straightforward Stereo Tuning Process and Some Notes About Why it Works

Good news- Truck is sounding better than ever. I am continuously becoming more impressed by this build, it just keeps improving with no limitations thus far. Even more excited for my next speaker upgrade .

Bad news- I got in the truck tonight and had no sound. Dsp and amps were on. I had to unplug the navtv unit. As soon as I plugged it back in, everything worked again. I'm still using toslink for signal. Looks like there is in fact a software glitch in the most recent update. I'm going to give Tony a call on Monday. Now that there are two of us, we have evidence that there is an issue. We will get it fixed soon enough. I suggest you downgrade for the time being. That will solve your problem until a patch is created. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Mine failed all 4 times yesterday I went to drive my truck and I had to cycle the power on the Zen.

Aslo, when you have no sound prior to cycling the Zen power, does the volume increment indicator display on the touchscreen when you turn the ****?

Thanks for the update. Do you think your issue is related to the software update? I only had mine installed for a few days but everything did seem to work before the update.

Happy thanksgiving to you as well!

Yes, the volume indicator displayed even when I had no sound. I think my issue is directly related as I never experienced this once prior to updating last week.]

Yeah. Ok. Maybe I’ll downgrade and see what’s up. I only upgraded so I could adjust the chime volume. Hopefully it’s software related but I heard from some others that had this issue with the gen 1 hardware.

It will get worked out. I assure you. Your chimes might be a little loud for now but at least you won't have to keep unplugging it.

Are you downgrading? If so to what version? I’d like so get on the same version so we can compare results!
