My system: your opinion...

He got here this morning to continue working on it. I'm
Just here waiting. Should be another 15-20min... I'll keep you updated.
Yea, I was starting from base stock with the 4" screen. It was so weak that if the base is up and I turn it up to 30, the max, there would be zero base and you could barely hear it on the freeway with the windows open and forget the tweeters playing anything unless the bass was 100% off. Same goes with talk radio; you couldn't hear what they were saying really.
I'm looking forward to actually hear music and voices.

Ok fellas, my opinion. The Infinity Kappa's are exactly what I was looking for in a component and coaxial combo. Added with the Kicker 400.4, the amp provides the power the speakers deserve.
The Kicker Comp S 10" that comes in the Kicker box that comes ported from the factory also sounds great but I want a wee bit more deeper base. Don't get me wrong, it gives the sound that fills the cabin with rich bass and works great with a wide range of music types at 300rms.
I decided that I am going to return the Kicker Box/Sub as well as the Kicker CX300.1. Again, for your average person, its waaaay more than enough.
In exchange I purchased a Kicker Comp RT Shallow Mount which is rated at 500rms that should arrive in by tomorrow. Also, double check as a ton of sales are going on with the current model. The 2016 model has red stiching and has arrived in stores in San Diego here. I called Kicker and he stated that they have not started distributing for the rest of the country but should in the next month or 2. For some reason, the West Coast gets first dibs on delivery.
I plan to purchase the factory Kicker ported box for the 12" more than likely. A sealed box would sound crisp and wouldn't stick out from the bottom of the seat by about an inch which isn't too bad.
For the amp I purchased 2 amps which were right about the same price. I purchased the 2016 model Kicker CX1200.1 which is rated at 600rms. I also found on clearance at Best Buy as well a Kicker KX800.1 which is rated at 800rms in 2ohm mode. The thing is its the prior model but still new.
Would you keep the 2016 CX rated at 600rms or would you keep the KX rated at 800rms? The KX is the best as they go from DX, CS, to the top at KX. The next level up from there is their competition stuff which I don't need by any means.
So, which amp would you keep and would you go with the Kicker Ported box from the factory or go with a stereo shop's prefab sealed? Also, do you think the shallow mount Kicker Comp RT is a significantly better sub than their lower Comp S model?
Thanks for your help guys!

As for the amp. keep the biggest one. 800 watts will be just about right.

Cool man.
Ok, so the Kicker Comp RT comes in tomorrow and I'm going to use the KX800.1...
Here's the specs on the box the shop has. 6 3/8" height x 14 1/4" length x 14" width top (11 1/2" width bottom). From my calculations, that's about .6 cu.ft which is about .1 from their recommended sealed box minimum at .55 cu.ft.
I don't really want to spend anymore like an additional $300 for a custom box. That's my dilemma. So now that it's just a hair over minimum specs I'm worried that even though it's 200rms watts greater, it's in a sealed box on top of being severely restricted.
What are your thoughts?

Wont be a problem at all. The manufacturers specs are usually the smallest they can get away with because small boxes are all the rage now. The smaller the box, the more it changes the response curve and creates a hump in the response. Ideally youll want a response curve thats flat and thats usually going to be a little bigger than what the manufacturer recommends. To find the ideal volume, youll need a box calculator program an the Theile/Small parameters which should be listed on the Kicker website. .6 ft3 will be fine and wont hurt the sub or anything else at all.

I just want to thank MacLeod and everyone for their help.
I went with your advice and am extremely happy. I remember hearing the shallow mount speakers 15yrs ago and they sucked horribly so everyone went ported if possible.
I have to admit that this setup is light years from the garbage factory speakers and for about the same price as the kicker OEM premium sound from ford, this destroys that too.
I'm extremely happy with the choices you guys helped me go with.
My setup is:
- Pair of Infinity Kappa components (90w rms)
- Pair of Infinity Kappa Coaxial (90w rms)
- Powered by Kicker KX 400.4 (100rms/ch)
- 2 - 12" Kicker Comp RT Shallow 500rms/ea. in sealed truck box
- Powered by Kicker KX800.1 (800w rms)
- Stock deck bc I like ford features so running a hi/Lo converter and sounds great!
This system is, and from the complements I've gotten from people who have listened, is very much so clear, crisp, nice balance of mids and highs, and the 2 12's are exactly what I was looking for. The kicker ported comp s 10" just didn't have it. It hit pretty hard with its bass but low really low notesade it struggle in silence.
I wanted 1-12" thinking I needed a huge sealed box for sound. But once I got to the shop and heard the owners 2-12" comp RT in the sealed box I was sold! These two subs play every genre of my music from old school hip hop, rock, alternative, and believe it or not classical for when my wife drives my logical mind bonkers with her emotional tornados.
These two subs together in the small truck box sound amazing for being so compact. Also it fits flush with my seat unlike that other kicker factory box which stuck out 2".
Thanks again for all of your help. This has been a crazy past few weeks with returns and exchanges. Just do it right and put some faith in small sealed truck boxes. I was a doubter but I'm on board with sealed boxes and shallow mount subs. The right ones will do the job!

Yea man, it was completely unexpected. I was planing originally just for 1 sub but my other shop had the 2016 Comp RT where the current place only had older models. Then this shop I've been to a bunch in the past said he'd help me out and gave me them for slightly above his cost so I just did it as he had the F150 box ready and I didn't have to wait for the other guy to wait for shipping.
So it worked out great!
