My "Custom" Sub Enclosure for 2011 F150 Crew...
With the help of some postings here, I have created my own box. I wanted a box that didn't take up the entire rear but I also wanted the drivers side rear seat to be in the up position 100% unobstructed for tools etc. This is why the speaker terminals are on the passenger side.
I built this with a Milwaukee Fuel 18V Cordless Circular Saw because I don't own a table saw. I used an angle finder which was a huge help. Took longer because of it but it can be done. I was impressed with zero gaps when I screwed and glued it together. Helps I use a circular saw all of the time for work.
This box gave me .60 CU which the sub called for. I forgot to take in account for the sub which according to the manual is .03. Close enough!
Two dimensions that I didn't put on the template were the following.
- 1 1/8 inch for the bottom board above the carpet. Depending on the sub, it may or may not be enough.
- My width was 19.5 inches.
If I was to build another one, I don't think I would change anything.
The cardboard template is the actual one I used to cut out the sides for my box. It took a few attempts to get it close enough.
PS: I haven't tried it yet. Waiting to paint/install the HU bezel. Yes, I know... You can see some of the white primer on the screw heads. I'm not 100% done yet.
