Default Image Dynamics ID8 D4 V.4

I have a 2013 FX4 and about to pull the trigger on 2 Image Dynamics ID8 D4 V.4 subs but i can't find anywhere on dimensions to build the box to fit in my truck. I have heard that the ID8's like sealed boxes but would be open to ported. Any help would be awesome .

No direct info here, but I owned an IDQ 15v2 and found all the specs I needed on the ID site. I know it's a few generations back, but that sub excelled in a ported box. ID gave a few different sizes, one being the smallest possible, the other being the one best suited for the sub. I ran it in the small sealed box and the optimum ported box and it was a whole different beast in the ported box. SQ and SPL all improved. Of course some of this was due to the optimum vs smallest boxes, but I'm betting some was because of the ported box vs sealed box. Input from others that ran both sealed and ported in the optimum sizes matched my experience.

So as long as i build the box to the minimum or maximum cu/ft my dimensions as far as length, width, and height don't matter right as long as it fits?

right. Air space is air space. There are two things to remember when building a box: brace like hell and seal everything. You'll be surprised how much long, flat runs will flex. A little MDF bracing will fix that right up. Don't forget to account for the air displaced by the brace. Do the math and make sure it's accounted for in the box design. Driver displacement can also be a factor. This is less critical in 3 cu ft boxes, but .1 can matter in a .6 cu ft box. A ported box still needs sealed seams. The port is just a way for the back wave to match the front wave and be used outside the box. Leaky seams won't help anything. Also, port displacement needs to be accounted for in the design. It's considered solid for volume computations.

I've had Image Dynamics equipment for many years and will say that their tech support is top notch. the number is right on their page, I'd definitely suggest calling them up for help on your box questions

I PMed you back, I have 2 IDQ-10's in a Fox Box. From Fox Acoustics.

Had to cut larger diameter openings, but the air space is correct for the subs

I can also vouch for ID's tech support. When I was building some kick panels a few years back, one of their installers spent a couple of hours with me on the phone, telling me how to best air them, step by step. I wasn't even running ID products then. He just found my question on a message forum and went out of his way to help.
