This is gives me hope that can infact add a mini amp with a harness for about $200-250 total. The more I have read the more I am looking into the Kicker Key mini amp.
i just installed the pioneer mini-amp.....really woke up the system. I am still installing a amp and sub for the rear, but pleased with the sound so far for what I paid and how easy it was to install.

Today I stumbled into a deal that was too good to pass up.

The front stage speakers were installed on Friday. They really have made a noticeable difference in how the factory stereo performs. On Saturday I attempted to put my front windows down and my passenger side window would only go down a third of the way. I knew immediately something was up with the mounting of the 6x9. Not really a huge deal for me. Today I was able to get the truck back to the shop today to have the door speaker remounted. While I was in the shop I was discussing my next thoughts of going with a mid bass woofer in the rear doors instead of a coax speaker. The shop owner agreed with my thought of going to a mid bass woofer, as it would get me towards my end goal. He advised me that he felt bad that I had to come back to the shop for an error with the install on Friday. He suggested going with the ( Kenwood Excelon XR-1800P ) components in the rear doors. He said with the larger mid-woofer they would better help me achieve my goal and sound awesome with some power to them. These come with a 7" round woofer, passive crossover, and tweeter. He advised me that once these speakers get some power to them they will bang pretty hard in the doors. He offered me the woofer and crossover ( No need for the tweeter ) installed today if I could leave the truck at the shop for about 2 hours. The price point offered was a steal. Less then the original cost of the components themselves. All for having to come back for a minor install correction.

I was not planning on this today, but for the price an immediate service I could not turn it down. Now I just gotta save up for the amp. So far my original price point is out the window lol. Due to the miss communication over the OEM system in the truck. I ended up investing in some higher quality speaker upgrades then originally planned. Since I am now in a littler further then I wanted to be I might as well embrace my ( misfortune / luck LOL ) and give my door speakers some decent power. I think the idea of a mini amp behind the dash is now out the window.

My next adventure is most likely going to be a ( Kenwood Excelon XR400-4 ) 4 channel amp. This amp will push my speakers with about 75w RMS per channel and should really make my stereo come to life.

Playing around this afternoon the new 7" woofers in the doors. I faded the stereo all the way to the rear to see what kind of bump the excelon's had just off the stock power. They have a tiny bit of punch to them, but I was expecting that considering these woofers are capable of handling around 100w RMS. These will shine once they receive some power. I then moved the fade towards the front to see if there was a noticeable change in the overall cabin sound. I was happy with the improvement so far on stock power.

If you think the speakers made that much of a difference with what you have done thus far you'd love the addition of some serious sound deadening materials.

I just now added my 4ch amp and am still working on getting my sub amp setup. I will eventually change the door speakers as well. Which budget sound deadening material do y'all recommend? My truck is very quiet already with just the factory sound deadening but I will want to deaden the doors a bit once I change the speakers to keep vibration to a minimum. Thanks.

That is not accurate. Every stereo option in our trucks has some form of factory EQ applied. Most notably, the output for lower frequencies (bass) is reduced at high volume.

I keep seeing “Forscan” references a lot. What is it, and how do I apply it to the truck ? A computer program, hand held decive ?

I would like to get the best full range sound I can get out of my speakers once I get an amp installed.

I don't want to argue but I invite you to grab an oscilloscope and check.
