Yeah man, I think JJDH pointed me towards your album. Thanks for selling me on the Fox Box.

How's yours holding up?

The Fox Box is doing just fine, along with the cheap amp I'm driving the JLW3 with too. I burned up the Profile amp and replaced it with a JL G4500. I should've went with the JL amp in the first place. That JLW3 in the Fox Box is really something, huh. Yours is probably even more impressive than mine since your driving 2 of them.

Looks great! I am planning on doing something similar to my 05 extended cab, but I dont know how to get the back seat off, could you enlighten me? I saw the pics of the zip ties but im not sure how it all connects together. :/ I do want to do mine a little different by putting the single 12" sub under the front center seat. Thanks for the help!

Thanks Gator, I didn't get the email notification until just now. Yeah, the back seat is a pain the first time you do it. After you do it once, though, it's easier. I zip-tied the clips so I don't have to poke a screwdriver around in there every time. Now I just give it a good tug upwards and the seat pops out. Much more convenient.

As a little update, I diagnosed a problem I had the other day. Essentially my passenger side crossover is shot. There is something wrong with the woofer part of it. Now, I'm thinking of using this as an excuse to go active. Might pick up another cheap 2-ch amp to power the tweeters and also pick up an RF 360.2. Won't be until summer, but it should be very interesting.

i dont mean to be disrespectful, but you really halfassed the whole install.
first off, 8 gauge power wire? and outside the cab? um, wtf?
your power and ground are running over each other
your speaker wires are ran so poorly
the crossover............i dont even know what to say about that

a good quality install btw would run ~1500$ if done CORRECTLY. feel free to reference my install.
it looks good bolted up, but if someone were to tear the interior off and inspect the routing, you think they would say good things? i doubt it
again, dont mean to be disrespectful, but you could have done things WAY better.

None taken.

Yes, I should have ran 4 ga. Likely will go back when I have more time and redo the power wires. I had 8 ga on hand, though, and I am not pushing that much power. I don't have the gains set very high on the amps right now.

There's nothing wrong with outside the cab as long as it's protected. I'm picking up some tech flex to run over it when I get more time, but wire loom over it is fine for now. Ever looked under a car? Take a look under the engine bay and you'll see a few wires. While you're there glance behind the bumper where your fog lights are.....you'll see the wires running to them.

I see your install thread and that you ran it into the cab via the firewall. That's great and all, but your wire is unprotected in the engine bay. Ever seen an engine bay after the vehicle has been mudding? Your power wire there is no more protected than mine.

By speaker wires ran poorly do you mean from the crossover? If so I will definitely agree. That's my biggest concern now. I will be going active soon, though, so those crossovers will be gone. That's why I didn't put much time into them---they were already there and I'll be upgrading soon anyway.

I see no issues with the crossover location, though, besides the speaker wires being ran through there. They fit nicely and are protected from the elements.

Most people installing audio systems do it on a budget. I'd love to see how many average joes pay that much for an install. You did a great job on your install--very clean. I don't see $1500 into it, though.

I agree, I could have done better. Every system could have improvements. I am a college student on a limited budget (both time and money). This truck is my daily driver, so I had to do what I could with the time I could. I don't have the time to drop it off to a professional installer, and I sure as hell am not going to spend that much for an install when I could do it myself.

I do see the differences between our installs. Mostly the fact that you ran your wires cleaner than I did to make it look pretty underneath. I can understand that since you're in the car business. Sure, mine may not be as pretty, but the difference in performance between how wires are ran isn't worth $1500. Considering I don't take my truck apart to show people, I didn't want to spend twice as much time to run the wires so they look better, especially when it won't make a lick of difference in performance.

edit: I forgot to mention this, but as a side note be careful with your 3rd brake light. Our trucks have been known to develop leaks there. With wires running through, it may open up that problem. Just something to watch out for.
