Mmmm no idea on an install. I'd imagine one that detailed would run a few hundred at least. Total cost of everything I would approximate a little over 2 grand. Head unit was a big chunk of that, but it's amazing. I know why they call it their flagship model.

I hate the hair but I love my dog more than my truck. I'll gladly vacuum because she loves truck rides so much. Thanks for the compliment.

Just out of curiosity, what exactly does the sound deadener do for the sound quality? Does it make it louder inside? Or quieter outside? I have very little (aka, none) knowledge when it comes to stereo stuff. ha ha. Sweet install though.

Thumbs up Wow !!

WOW man,

this is really something.

I have my FX4 for almost a year now and I'm also thinking about upgrading.

It looks like you know all the details so I found the right man to ask questions about this....

I've got the '05 Super Crew, the Pioneer AVIC D3 already installed and now I want to change the speakers.
I don't need the best of the best because I love the sound of my V8
But, I want some decent tunes without drilling holes in my door !!

My questions :

What size is the stock speaker, front and rear ?
Is it 6"x8" ? or is it a round speaker ?

What brand is the Woofer case ? and where did you get it ?

many thanks for the help

greetzzzz

pretty good upgrade, i woulda used some real sound deadener vs that quick roof stuff, it falls off when it warms up, also i would upgrade the power wire, 8 gauge wire shouldnt be used for power wire when running that much power, most of us big boys use it for speaker wire

good equipment and a great tutorial

Sound deadener will lessen outside noise heard inside the cab. For example, it decreases noise from the road, tires, exhaust, wind, etc. Using it on certain panels (door, for example) will stop vibrations between metal parts. If you use enough it makes a huge difference. Lessening the exterior noise heard on the inside makes an amazing difference in sound quality.

Stocks are 6x8, IIRC. Been a while since I ditched them. The reason I got the SPR-17Ss is because they come with a mounting bracket that mates to the stock location, so no drilling was required. I will be looking to upgrade those speakers and amp pretty soon, though, and will be making my own mountain surface.

Sub box is a Fox Box. He's gone down in price since I bought mine.

Thanks for the compliment. Yeah when I upgrade my speakers and amp I will be running larger power wire. It's enough for me now, though, since I'm not pushing that much power.

As for the deadener, looking back I do wish that I used high-quality stuff. I will likely go back and redo it sometime in the future, as well. It did make a noticeable difference, though, so for the price it can't be beat. I've heard of people saying it falls off, but usually those are the ones that have never used it. It's been in my truck for well over a year and it's sticking like I just put it on. I had to cut out a patch to make a new ground and it was a PITA to get off. It sticking so well is actually the big reason I haven't put in Dynamat.

when you upgrade the deadener dont use dynamat, its very over priced and thequality is bs...i suggest second skin damplifier pro, it is simply the best sound deadener on the market to date

It's all good man, I don't care about that stuff. Post whatever you want...this is the audio section.

Oh, and Logan, sorry for the confusion. I will not be using Dynomat, that's for sure. I've just gotten into the habit of using the term as a verb to describe the good quality sound deadener. I'd go broke if I used Dynomat for my purposes, because when I redo it all I will be putting several layers everywhere.
