Default JL premade sub boxes

hello all. long time lurker, first time poster.

just got a '15 lariat and was at the shop ordering a tonneau cover and asked about options for a sub install. guy at the shop said they are a JL dealer and that they made premade boxes specific for F150s. he also said they were not yet available for the '15 but would be in a couple months. I searched the net and couldn't find much about them. was wondering if they were popular, good/bad, and if anybody had pics of them installed.

im not an audiophile, I just want a little more bass hit so I am leaning toward a single 10" or maybe even a single 8". I also don't want to give up anymore space than absolutely necessary. my Doberman co-pilot needs all the room to stretch out he can get.

thanks for any advice you can give

The jl boxes come with a 13" shallow mount installed I think? Its a great setup, but runs 900.00 I want to say!

Youll need a Amp as well, as it doesnt come with one!

JL stealthbox is ridiculously expensive. Much better off picking up a sundown SD2 10 and having your shop build you an enclosure. Probably cost 350 total vs 900

I just built my own for my JL 10" and used an NVX class D 300W amp. Works great for me.

Each speaker has its own box requirements. Most subs can be used sealed or ported. In general a 10 will reqire between .6 and .8 sealed or .8 to 1.25 ported.

To answer the question of box size and porting, it depends on the woofer design. I bought this woofer:
http://www.jlaudio.com/10tw3-d4-car-...-drivers-92184

It can be bought here:
Amazon.com : Jl Audio 10tw3-d4 Shallow-mount 10 : Vehicle Subwoofers : Car Electronics Amazon.com : Jl Audio 10tw3-d4 Shallow-mount 10 : Vehicle Subwoofers : Car Electronics

It has a sealed enclosure volume of 0.5 cuft. That is what I built in the pics above. It works great and leaves my side of the rear seat unobstructed.

This is the same thing I have. It really thumps for it's size!
