I did a set of Kenwoods in a f150 Supercab with the factory deck. They lacked a lot of bottom end, but had a lot of mid and treble. I ended up swapping out the speakers with JL tr's which was my origional suggestion to the customer. They were a great improvement even off the factory deck. The sound was smooth and had a decent midbass.

Just to shed some light on this subject. You're not going to get the output out of aftermarket speakers unless you add an amp to the factory system or replace the head unit. The factory headunit doesn't have enough power to bring out the best in aftermarket speakers. I replaced my headunit and I stil have the stock speakers and when they blow I'll replace them.

If I were you I would replace the headunit if you're looking into doing it. You can get a great headunit with bluetooth, iPOD hookup, and a decent amp for around $200. I highly recommend Crutchfield. They're not as exspensive as they used to be and their customer service is by far the best out there IMO.

Thanks for the link. I have been researching these and the reviews read well. I will probably get them through Crutchfield, since they include any special wiring free. I will start with these, see how they sound and then decide if I need to replace the head unit.

I did it...replaced all four speakers with Infinity Reference speakers & what a difference! Nice clear crisp tones, I can hear so much more in the music now I was really shocked! A great improvement for not a lot of money....of course it made the wife mad....I didn't do the same to her car yet! Go for it, a great big difference.

Well I put in the JL TR570cxi’s and did notice better mid and highs. I did notice that I had to turn down the bass on these vs. the factory speakers or I would get some distortion. Could it be that the original HU is not pumping enough juice to the JLs for base? Why would I have to turn down the base? I have no problem changing out the HU, but just want to make sure why I’m having an issue with the base on these new ones.

Im a memphis audio fan. I cut some adapter plates to run 6.5in Studios in my car and it cranks...although I have an Alpine CDA-9857, Kicker 700.5, and a Memphis DVC 12in in the trunk. that being said, you have the mounting space for component speakers, run a good set of alpines, like the Type R 6.5in woofer, and some type r 5x7s in the rear....but amp it and everyone at the stoplight will hear what you hear loud and clear.

Does anybody know if the 07 Supercabs are pre-wired for amps incase somebody want to upgrade the sound system? I just got the basic sound system when I purchased the truck, but I could of upgraded. As you see above I have replaced the speakers and was wondering if I could just add an amp or should I replace the HU? I also have a 07 Mustang GT and it has the Shaker 500. The HU looks the same except it has a 6 CD changer vs. one, but the sound is much better; not sure if that is because of the HU or an amp. Thanks!
