Question Help with Stereo System

I have installed the following components in my 2000 F150 4x4 truck.

1. Eclipse AVN 6610 HU
2. Infinity Kappa 680.9Cs Component Front Speakers
3. Infinity Reference 6832CF Rear Speakers

My system now sounds worse than the factory system. I need help.

Please give me some good advice on how to wake up this system. How many amps & what type? What type of sub? How many subs?

I don't want to spend much more than 400.00 to complete the system. I just want to listen to good old classic rock.

Help

Get a cheap 4 channel amp and power the speakers. It will really wake them up.

I hope that I made a good choice. I ordered an Alpine MRP-F300 from Crutchfield last night. The amp has good reviews, and seems to be a good starter amp. I will try this and see what happens. If there is not enough bass, I will installer a sub.

Something must wrong if that setup sounds worse than factory. You sure it's wired correctly? Exactly how does it sound worse than factory?

There is just no bass in the system! Everything is wired correctly. I hope the amp will fix the problem!

There shouldn't be a high pass filter on your speakers, so I doubt you'll be really happy with just amping the speakers. I'd highly recommend adding a sub. For a hundred bucks, you could throw in a single 10 and box powered by the 150W RMS the rear channels can put out, not super powerful, but should be a significant improvement in the low end.

I got the amp installed yesterday. The sounds is a lot better, but the bass is still not right. If I try and put to much gain to the rear speaker, they start distorting.

Gator are you saying to remove the rear speakers from the system, then add a sub to the rear channels of the amp? Or did you mean to install another amp & sub?

Another question is, does anyone know what wire to grab for a VSS signal for the Nav? I need some type of pulse for a speed signal.

Thanks

Quick update. I added a sub to my system for more bass. It still does not sound like I want.

I put in a RF P1S410 with a Sound Ordnance 10" box.

Before sub, below is what I had.

1. Eclipse AVN 6610 HU
2. Infinity Kappa 680.9Cs Component Front Speakers
3. Infinity Reference 6832CF Rear Speakers

I suspect my amp is the major problem. I borrowed a JL Audio 300/4.v2 from a friend to see if the amp was the problem. The JL sounds much better, but still does not work that great with the sub. My Eclipse has 3 sets of RCA output jacks. 2 for the front & rear, & 1 for sub. If I hook the sub to the the sub outputs, it does not output much noise. If I hook the sub to the rear speaker outputs, the sound is ok. Why does the sound change, I will I damage anything if left to the rear speaker outputs? I hooked the sub straight to a JL 300/1, & it did not make hardly any noise!

I really need help to fix this problem. Do I send my amp & sub back, or just get a better amp. At this point, money is not the major problem! I am just tired of chasing my tail!

Thanks

Is there a sub level on the head unit that needs to be turned up? You don't have a high pass crossover turned on do you?
