Here's the sub. It's a 8" L7 solo baric. In my old truck that I had it in people thought I had 2 10"s. love this little guy. Plus the wiring. Dual coiled sub. So 1- to 2- and 1+ to 2+ then respectfully out to the amp.

I was looking at this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/2009-2012-Fo...item53eb469da6 but was unsure how it would sound. Never had a ported box before and that's really what I'm worried about. What type of music do you listen to?

I listen to a lot of country. But I do listen to a lot of rap too!! If you make sure to pair the correct amp and take some time to tune it, it's amazing. Sounds like 2 10s. I'm very impressed with this sub. A ported box will be louder and have better acoustics. It won't have that "chest pounding" feel as much as a sealed box. The vented box I built is exactly what I like. It hits hard but it has a smooth feel.

If you listen to death metal the vented box will sound mushy

However If I were to buy a sealed box I would buy a 10" in the Kicker L7 because the sealed box will dampen the 8" too much for my taste

I use an 8" Punch 1 Rockford Fosgate in a sealed box and it's simply fantastic. Hits hard, is accurate, and doesn't have a funky fq curve like a ported or vented box. No offense to ported sub guys. Also, a sealed box requires less air, so the box can be smaller. Ported subs tend to be boomy with is great for dance, hip hop, or rap; but not as good for rock, country, jazz, classical.

My two cents. keep the change.
