Default GoundingAmp with Aluminum Body

How are you guys grounding your amps with the 2015-2017 aluminum body? I use to just drill a hole by the amp and screw the ground wire onto the chassis but heard that is not ideal with these new trucks

You would want to find a steel attachment point nearby to attach a ground wire to.

Where are the seats attached? That is where I usually go.

Would drill hole through bottom or back of the cab, pass wire through watertight grommet, and go straight to frame.

Part of any audio system should be a Big 4/5 upgrade, ALT to BATT +, BATT - to FRAME, ENGINE BLOCK to FRAME, and BODY to FRAME. BODY to FRAME is really unnecessary to many people, but can help with buzzing noises if they arise. Solved my buzzing issues, since the factory head unit harness grounds to the body, and my amps were all grounded to the rear frame rail. Stock grounds are more than often insufficient for higher powered audio installs.

Should be an existing grommet to use??

If there is a grommet. Haven't been into an install in an aluminum body generation truck yet. I passed my 4/0 Power and ground through my cab vent, well what was left of it after it got spray foamed shut.

I just got done installing an amp in my 2016 and I found going thru the cab vent straight to the frame to be the easiest way to get to a solid ground.

I saw what looked like it was a ground, it had a bundle of wires with green electrical tape wrapped around them attached to it. I wasn't 100% sure it was a ground though, feeding it thru the cab vent was easy enough.
