Now follow me for a second..... you said you want to hold off on the sub and am right? Why not use the new radio, and the "internal amp" it has...yes you are actually paying for an amp when you purchase these head units (they arent jsut preamps) to power your 4 OEM speakers (unless they are blown) and put the money into an amp and sub? and this gives you some time to hunt down the perfect 4 channel for your system later down the road.
Ohh so the Pioneer AVH-P4200 has a internal amp ?? and that is going to make my OEM speakers sound a little less ****tier ?? Sorry FORD but these speakers are ****!!

What you suggest as a good sub and amp? not trying to blow down houses, just a nice BOOM BOOM.
I like the prefab foxbox http://www.foxacoustics.com/ProductD...de=F150-210-04.

Yeah, that headunit basically has a small amp built in, which is 4X22watts RMS(4X50 peak watts)

Thats enough wattage that you will def hear a very nice increase in sound quality. What also will make a huge difference in sound quality is that your headunit also will have a high pass cross over built in, so depending on where you set it, you can remove most of the low bass from your small speakers (which means they will distort less, and not try to reproduce frequencies that they cant produce) Leave the low bass to your new sub your headunit also has a low pass crossover section too, which you can use for your sub incase the amp yuo choose doenst have a built in crossover.

I'd suggest a Class D amp for your sub (Class D amps are more efficent...less heat is produced, more watts, but they also love amperage). Maybe get a used JL 250/1V2 amp, and maybe four 8's? that would give you some nice bass impact, but not overboard, or use that amp for one 10inch which can be removed easily if you need the floor space

Dont quote me on this but i thought i read somewhere that some ppl were having issues with prefab boxes...dont know if it was a Fox box, but it sounded like they were leaking air. that could easily be fixed though with some glue and clamps though.
