Fox Box Subwoofer Enclosure Review for 2015+ F150 SuperCrews
Hey gang,
I have been looking at the Fox Boxes for a while now and was frustrated with the lack of any real reviews. I took the plunge anyway and I ordered the single sub box. Here are my initial thoughts pre-hook up to my system. I'll follow up with the sound later. I'll follow up with a sound review later. |
Had a problem uploading pictures. Trying again.
https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...c126ef5b69.jpg Given the weight of the Fox Box (35 lbs) I was expecting expanded foam inside to protect it, but everything looked ok. No obvious shipping damage was seen. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...ae88045502.jpg Wrapped in plastic. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...3ad60ee34e.jpg Although I'm not a fan of the Ford Oval on the face, Its a nice looking box. Seems to be well built. I could still smell the bedliner spray after taking out of the plastic. |

Sub extenders (not sure what else to call them....DD boobs?) There seems to be secured/sealed with silicon and screws. I noted on one of the sides where middle meets the crease on the box looked to be a gap. Just as a precaution, I ran a bead of silicon around the outside just to make sure any gaps were sealed. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...fccd7f0d1d.jpg External vent/port. Not sure why there are two extenders since this is a single sub box. Increase the box volume maybe? https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...b4dbd10204.jpg |

Terminal cups. For some reason they sent me two. I opted for the upgraded terminals. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...f354655f2a.jpg Mounting location. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...7a795a9804.jpg View of the port/vent from the inside. Box material looks to be 3/4" MDF. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...b5cceb3f2e.jpg Underside of the box. |
Sorry for the string of pics. It would not upload properly...

Hey that looks like a very nicely built box. Could you provide various dimensions for us? Like perhaps front height, rear height, width, overall depth and such? I understand this is for a supercrew truck correct? Thanks.

So instead of using my current Alpine SWT-10S2 sub, I picked up a JL 10W3v3-2. Wow this box slams with that JL in it. Lots of deep bass for a single 10" sub.

How’s the sub fitment in the box? Let’s gets some pics of the sub in box and box in truck. Quit teasing us! |

It only extends out about an inch as compared to the seal box I made. The seat goes all the way down and you can sit on the seat and not compress the box. The subwoofer is recessed above the floor with plenty of clearance from the floor so nothing is blocked. I had to re-tune my DSP since the level I used for the seal box was much higher than what this needs. I set my subsonic filter at 31 Hz and the LPF at 80 Hz. After the tweeks man-o-man does this thing SLAM! My only issue is the diameter of the sub cutout in the box. There was not a whole heck of a lot of meat around opening to use the threaded insert nuts I got to mount the sub. Had to go slow and make sure it was mounted evenly. Overall, if you want a ported box that will not take up the entire back floor...this is the way to go. The JL 10W3v3 sounds awesome in it. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...22510caa99.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...440289f39d.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...407a8a6d33.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...7497ed1aa3.jpg |
Looks great! You can remove that piece behind the box. I removed mine and it gave me another 1/2” or so of clearence. |
