Too much? It depends on what you prefer.. For me, yes it's prob too much. You would have to go with a fox box ported enclosure to fit 2 JL subs. This will give you less tight precise hits, but more deep bass... Right now 1 JL is very powerful and digs very dip on low base lines. If you listen to pretty much all music like myself, then I'd go for the single JL in the sealed fox box again in a heartbeat. It sounds perfect IMHO.

Thanks for the input! That's what I wanted to know.

Ordered a fox box two weeks ago for my truck. Called Joe he said he had it in stock and it would ship right out...charged my card that day....fast forward to a week later, no follow up emails or calls, sent an email and a voice mail asking for status, no response. Another week goes by another email sent and voice mail left stating I would cancel if I didnt get a reply....again, zero response. I finnaly had to get visa involved and they credited my acct. Thats downright unacceptable in my book. At least return my call/email. Unfortunate as it looks like the best box for the price. Just FYI for those thinking about ordering from fox - be prepared for a long wait and little to no communication.

Going through the same thing here. Two weeks went by after the order. Their website said that they shipped within 1-2 days. Emailed them for the status. The next day, my account showed a tracking number and thethe product had shipped. However, FedEx shows that they only received the information. That was a week ago. 3 Weeks since I placed the order, and it appears as though it has not shipped.

Ya, sorry to hear that. I must say, in the end, Joe made it right (I got my money back) but he did not make it easy to say the least. I got the impression hes a one man operation....nothing wrong with that but a little communication goes a long way!

I must say after reading the recent posts I was a little worried buying from Fox Acoustics. I called them last Monday to ask if the single 10" SCREW boxes were ready to ship and they told me they were scheduled to be built on that Wednesday. I placed my order Monday morning after getting off the phone with them. I emailed them last Thursday to ask about a status and shipping info and he promptly replied back that it would ship out on Friday and I would receive tracking once they printed the label. Sure enough I got the tracking info on Friday and it made it here Saturday night showing its on the truck at the local sorting facility to be delivered tomorrow. Granted I live only two states over but that's not bad from time of purchase IMHO. Calling ahead to know their schedule with what's actually available and ready to ship helps.

So my experience has been fine. I just wanted to post so others maybe on the fence like I was can feel easier about ordering.

I noticed two of you guys use the 1600 watt, 2-channel SSL EVO. Why do you use a 2 channel with a single sub? I currently have 2 Kicker Comp VRs in a ported box on my seat running in parallel to 2 Ohms to my SSL Psyclone 1500 watt monoblock amp. Just curious why you chose a 2 channel amp because I want my back seats back and I will be selling my setup to do the single 10" fox box with the JL 10W3v3 and will probably get a new amp as well.

Different ways to wire the sub if its a dvc. There are so many different ways to do it it really doesn't matter if you have a mono or a 2 CH. Some mono amps have 2 speaker outputs anyway...I know mine does.

Like sixsix said, there's A lot of ways to get it done...
I went with a 2 channel amp because it is just more useful to have 2 channels as opposed to 1... When bridged it performs like a mono block. If I ever expand my system to add another sub, I can split up the bridge and power both subs independently. The SSL is a nasty amp for the money, and has not even broken a sweat when driving that sub hard for long periods of time.

It looks like your going for the same setup that I'm running. You will be very pleased! That 1 JL kicks some serious ***, even when its tuned way down! Take pics and throw em up here when you get it done!

I've been contemplating adding a set of front components myself, and amping them independently with another amp I have lying around. I'm in no hurry since it honestly sounds great with the bass turned way down on the speakers already......

But this project is gonna be a close second. My next project is probably gonna be an ipad mini install with a drop in float mount setup.. I'm planning on recessing my deck just enough so its still usable without the mini installed. Then just lay the mini over the decks face for a flushed out fit with the dash...

My birthday is this July so my lady had agreed to buy me an in dash so I will hopefully be doing the new setup then as well. And that makes sense with the 2 channel amp but I think I might upgrade to a JL 1000 watt monoblock and run it at 4 ohms.
