PondJumper: that was the main reason I was trying to keep it at first, because I had spoken with some installers around town to see if I could keep my sync system, and they said it didn't really work. After getting mad at the poor sound quality I did my own reasearch and have found that I can retain it, so now I just need to spend a bunch more money ( was hoping not too, but the sound is worth it to me) to instal a pioneer head unit I ha e lying around with phenomenal sound quality, no more of these stupid high level converters which I think are causing some problems too. I had hoped the factory head unit was at least decent, but boy have I been proven wrong.
Karl: LOL can we burn yours too? I'm sure you kept it

The only inconvenience I have after adding everything aftermarket is that I have to hold the 'media' button on my steering wheeling for two seconds before streaming bluetooth media (only after every time I start my truck b/c Sync goes into idle when truck is shut off). Phone calls and voice commands work like they always have. Completely worth it.
BTW the two adapters you will need are PAC MSFRD-1 and PAC MSFRD-24 (I think thats the one) for Sync and SWC. If you want to connect an amplifier PAC sells a high low converter. I made my own which will sound muuch better. I posted a thread about how to make it a while ago, if you want I can forward it to you. Buy these adapters from Amazon, it's waay cheaper than buying from PAC.
I do recommend calling PAC tech support for any questions though. Their customer service is great. Even though I didn't buy directly from them, they talked me through some of the installation. Hope this helps man.

Sounds like you went through the same thing I did, Lol. My factory head unit? I kept it in a closet for about two weeks then threw it in a dumpster.

I will be running Two Amps actually, one 4 channel, and one Mono. But my Deck has everything i need to run them so i should not have any issues along those lines.
When you say you need to hold the media button down, you actually mean Sync goes into standby? but only upon startup?
And with your install, you have to be on an "AUX" input on your deck correct?
thanks for the info!

Thanks dude! Ya i will be looking to do this when i have the money to get the dash kit and modules, for now nice it would be to retain the Factory Deck for appearances, it just NOT worth it...

I also am running the stock head unit with sync. 2010 screw. I dont have problems with clipping, everything works fine. I have 2 amps, 2 subs and 2 sets of components. Though i will eventually replace it with a pioneer 80prs.
