Factory Crappy Stereo
So I'm going from my 06 Z71 Bose which I loved as a factory setup. I could max it out and it never distorted. However on my 2011 F150 XLT Supercrew the stereo sounds like it came out of my 1990 Toyota Pickup before I upgraded it!! WTF!? A 35,000 dollar pickup when it was new? AH well. I'm wondering if there are any good options out there that will allow me to keep everything factory as far as the steering wheel controls, head unit, and SYNC but upgrading the door speakers, maybe adding some factory style tweeters, and hey how about a little 10' sub for under the seat???? I'm not looking to rattle windows and set off car alarms like what I had when I was 18. I just want to be able to crank up my Jamey Johnson and Eric Church without distortion and have just a lil bass response. Thanks!

Checkout the Kicker Soundgate Powerstage upgrade. It's a little pricey but it completely plug and play with the factory setup. It's a huge improvement over the factory setup. You can also upgrade the door speakers for icing on the cake.
Any aftermarket coaxial speakers are a upgrade over factory. Polk, Infinity, Kicker, JL, and Pioneer are popular. If you want to add separate tweeters Kicker, JL, Infinity, and JBL make 6x8" component sets that pretty much drop in. The factory sail panel is the perfect place to mount the tweeters.

I just installed a Bazooka 6" Powered sub in my truck, greatly improved the low end while still maintaining the factory radio, controls and speakers. Definitely something to look into. I will eventually be changing out the door speakers to complete the sound.

Apline vs Infinity
OK I think I have decided on the first step, replacing those awful door speakers. I always have loved Alpine, hated Kicker. Won't own a Kicker product. That said the Alpine SPR-68 6X8's are a 4 Ohm setup that has a frequency response of 63 - 29khz. The Infinity Kappa 682.11cf is a 2 Ohm setup with a range of 40 - 25hz, I guess the Kappas would pull a little more juice but have better bass response. Any other suggestions for quality door speakers?
