Hey everyone. I have the 97-03 F-150 ext cab and I have a pioneer cd headunit but wanted to upgrade to a double din dvd w/ nav! I really like how the double dins look flush on the newer models 05 and up. I wanted to see some pics of those of you that have a double din in a 97-03 style truck or screw 97-03 and also what double din do you recommend that has ipod/iphone playback and nav! Thanks in advance guys!!!!!

I don't have a picture of it but not to long ago I had put a double din in a buddy's 03 and it was a pain.... In order to a double din in that body Yule if have to do some cutting of the dash but it looks really good once put in

Ok so I was looking at the pioneer avh-4200 or the avh-4300 cd/DVD double din. 1st thing is I really like the system for the price & 2nd can I add the gps onto it later? Also will this fit in my truck with a clean oem look? Please, if any of you have any pics of your double dins I would like to see which is the best direction to go. I also saw a single din that flips our but I've heard that the motor goes out on them all the time plus the double just looks bad azz!!! Thanks again folks!!!

I have the avh 4300 in my 04 and live it and yes it does have the ability to add on gps along with Bluetooth and back up camera and xm radio... As far as the 03 it will not fit with out have to modify that dash to make it fit in there right.... Honestly if you wanna the doublesinni would take it to a audio shop and let them install it for you so you have some kinda security begun ur vein done right and making it clean.

As you can see by this picture the real issue, is that the factory deck is actually a din and 3/4".


I have done a few of these. Not incredibly difficult, but also not for the faint at heart if you have never dremeled up a dash before.

Thanks for the input! I also looked at the AVHp8400BT. It already has bluetooth and I can add on GPS or use the GPS from my Iphone. The unit is about $600. I'm just having a hard time finding pics of double dins in this model truck. I don't wanna buy something just to be dis-like it because it doesn't mount correctly. So please.... with all the people with a 97-03 and have a double din I would love to see pics and hear your story about the install! thanx!!!!

done quite a few not too bad if you have a file and a dremel you can knock it out, use the kit i posted below, just remember cut a little at a time

dd with a motorized screen will take a little longer to get just right
