Driverside Rear door speaker is buzzing... Time to upgrade the rears! Going 6x8s again.
Have the Rockford Fosgate Punch P1683 in the front doors. Highs and Mids are great, but no bass to speak of.
Rockford Fosgate Punch P1683 6"x8" 3-way car speakers at Crutchfield.com
Also have a Pioneer 3200bt Headunit, otherwise stock system
Looking at either Pioneer or Infinity now.
Pioneer TS-A6885R 5"x7"/6"x8" 4-way car speakers at Crutchfield.com
Infinity Reference X REF-8602cfx 5"x7"/6"x8" 2-way car speakers at Crutchfield.com
Leaning towards the Pioneers since they're 4-way, lower Frequency Response, and higher (350 vs 180w) peak power rating.

Also doing a dual battery and Fuse Block upgrade. Already have the Blue Sea Fuse Block on the way (12 post, power only), need the battery cables and solenoid next.
Blue Sea
Amazon.com: Blue Sea Systems 5029 Fuse Block Screw Term Blade: Sports & Outdoors
Solenoid

Fuses for Battery
http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00D8E0SR...T6BUZMMA&psc=1
Now I just have to determine if I want to use 4 gauge or 1/0 gauge wire.
I can order 25ft of either, with only a $10 difference. The longest stretch would be from the aux battery across the engine bay (~5ft)
4 gauge

1/0 gauge

Will be following this diagram for the batteries

I must ask, why the solenoid for the battery?
I ran nearly 3,000 watts in my volvo through a pair of batteries, wired together. No solenoid or isolator, any of that "fancy" stuff.
Admittingly, it was an EXTREMELY stout charging system. 220 amp Singer Alt, pair of XS Power Batteries, LOTS of SkyHigh 2/0 cable.
If you are planning to add the extra battery, the Big 3 upgrade is a very wise idea. If it was me, I would definitely choose a different cable. Atleast do a 2ga OFC welding cable vs the 4 ga CCA cable. The CCA will corrode over time, possibly even faster in the climate you are in.
The solenoid, in my opinion, is a waste of money and time. A direct charging lead is a much more effective route. Take it from me, or take a browse through the big audio forums. Guys pulling 5, 600 amps of current, just running fused links to auxillary battery banks and nothing else.
Hate to see a members ride catch on fire from undersized wiring. Seen it many a times to my car audio friends, mini trucking friends, and homes I work in...electrician's apprentice.

i am running kickers, and you do not need 2 batteries for what you have now, but if you want them 4gauge is fine in between the 2 batteries. the isolator is not needed, just wire them in parallel.

No Amp Yet, planning on doing amp + subs at the same time so I only have to take the rear seat out once.
The dual batteries are for future upgrades and my extra lights and accessories I already have, not necessarily the stereo.
The solenoid allows the aux battery to be isolated, so if I drain the main battery I can jump it from the second.
I'm going with 1/0 wire for the battery and Big 3, probably 4ga for the fuse block.
Which Alpine? There are hundreds of speakers to choose from

I have the Infinity speakers that you're looking at and they sound great! No amp on them either, just replacement.
I did get wiring harnesses for them so that I didn't have to mess cutting and putting new connectors on, plus it didn't seem like there was enough slack in the line for that.

I installed a set of four 6x8 kicker ks series speakers a few weeks back.
The sound quality is noticeably better so far without an amp.
A couple of points for those doing similar changes...
1. consider using some form of sound matting material like dynamat to cushion the speakers and eliminate any noise or vibrations.
2. As the factory speakers had large foam edgings, consider buying and placing a foam tape edging surrounding the newly installed speakers. This will help to push the sound into the cab and not into the doors.
3. Adjust the fade on the headunit to now point a little more to the rear of the cab. With the extra added tweeters on the front speakers, it gets a little imbalanced with new speakers.
4. On your phone...for those complaining about sound quality...go into your phone sound settings (for those streaming music thru Bluetooth) and adjust the "EQ" settings and choose the one that privides you with the best sound. I am using an IPhone 5S and i set my "EQ" to Bass Boost. Theres about 15 or so "EQ" settings in the IPhone and I suspect similar with other smartphones.
5. Sound quality is better through Bluetooth than Sirius.
Cheers...
