I'm installing my dnx890hd tomorrow. I was wondering if I can use two non-Kenwood cameras for backup and front view. I was told that holding down the telephone button for a few seconds would toggle the rear and front cameras but one tech said I had to use Kenwood cameras. Hope the original poster doesn't mind my question. You can only toggle between cameras if the car is in reverse which is how I want to wire them.

I don't think it makes a difference what brand camera you are using as long as it is NTSC.

And I don't mind if you post in this thread, you probably get more specific answers in your own thread (do a forum search first' the topic might have been covered before).

Thanks. I think you get a few more options ans settings with the Kenwood cameras but they are way over priced. A lot of users were complaining about dimming but I was told by a tech that there are 20 levels of dimming. Have u played with this yet. I hope you get your camera issue resolved. It sounds like something is not right. Have u tired calling Kenwood?

To adjust the display dimmer function.........go to any screen which displays the SOFT menu key in the lower left corner. Hold the key for a few seconds and you get the dimmer menu where you can adjust it to your liking. There are videos on youtube about the procedure. Pretty easy to do, you want to do this when it is dark so you see what you getting.

Default Feel like an Idiot!

I took everything apart today and rechecked all my connections. I don't know how but I had the Maestro Mute wire connected to the Kenwood B/U wire. I fixed that and my camera is working now as it should.

At the same time I changed the radio bezel over to one from Scosche, much cleaner look and could pass for OEM.
